PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to support and cooperate with the safety investigation conducted by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the incident involving KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and KA 5568A Commuter Line in Bekasi Timur.

For KAI, a safety investigation is not merely about determining what happened, but also serves as an important part of ensuring that appropriate improvements are made and similar incidents can be prevented from recurring.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said that KAI respects the independent and comprehensive investigation conducted by KNKT. KAI is also ready to follow up on the recommendations issued in accordance with the company’s authority and responsibilities.

“KAI is fully cooperative throughout every safety investigation conducted by KNKT. We accept the recommendations as important input for evaluation and are committed to following them up seriously. The safety of passengers and train journeys is a responsibility that cannot be compromised,” said Anne.

During the investigation, KAI has also taken several safety precautionary measures, including accelerating the management of level crossings through coordination with relevant parties, implementing operational restrictions (BLB) in the Bekasi area, and maintaining ongoing coordination with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation regarding infrastructure-related aspects.

KNKT has issued safety recommendations based on its investigation and analysis. KAI will follow up on these recommendations through evaluations and improvements in areas under the company’s authority.

“We do not want the evaluation to stop at a document. KNKT’s recommendations must be translated into improvements in the field, whether in procedures, human resource readiness, or coordination among relevant parties, including efforts to raise public awareness of safety at level crossings. We will ensure that the follow-up measures are carried out and continue coordinating with the regulator and relevant stakeholders,” said Anne.

KAI also continues to strengthen oversight of safety procedures, ensure staff readiness, and regularly evaluate operational systems and processes. Every finding serves as input for improving work practices and continuously strengthening the safety system.

“We understand that behind every train journey is the public’s trust that we must uphold. Therefore, every evaluation must lead to improvement. KAI is committed to continuously learning, improving, and ensuring that train journeys become increasingly safe and reliable,” said Anne.

KAI will continue to implement safety recommendations in accordance with the company’s authority, coordinate with regulators and all relevant stakeholders, and ensure that safety remains a key consideration in every development and improvement of railway operations.
