KAI Hosts Public Viewing of the 2026 Bola Gembira Final at Yogyakarta Station and Dining Cars on 14 Train Services
The excitement of the 2026 Bola Gembira Final between Spain and Argentina will accompany PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) customers on their overnight journeys on Monday, 20 July 2026. Through the Bola Gembira 2026 program, KAI is hosting public viewing events at the East Hall of Yogyakarta Station and screening the match in Dining Cars across 14 train journeys covering 10 train services.
The match, broadcast live on TVRI National and TVRI Sport, kicks off at 2:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Most of the trains offering the live screening departed on the afternoon and evening of Sunday, 19 July 2026, allowing passengers to enjoy the match while travelling.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the public viewing events at the station and onboard Dining Cars were designed to provide customers with a unique overnight travel experience
"We want to bring the excitement of the final into our travel experience, allowing customers to enjoy the match together in a comfortable atmosphere, whether they are waiting at the station or travelling by train," said Anne.
In Yogyakarta, the public viewing takes place at the East Hall of Yogyakarta Station, widely known as Tugu Station. The venue opens at 12:30 a.m. WIB, while the match begins at 2:00 a.m. WIB.
Customers can enter the viewing area free of charge by presenting an electronic boarding pass or a train ticket valid for travel on 19–20 July 2026. The event will also feature a pre-match discussion with Indonesian football legend Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto.
The East Hall event will be enlivened by live music, interactive games, complimentary food and beverages from participating tenants, and lucky draw prizes. Promotional materials feature illustrations of prizes including football jerseys, tablets, smartwatches, train travel vouchers, and tumblers. The actual prizes are subject to the organizer's terms and conditions, as the images shown are for illustrative purposes only.
"Customers are welcome to arrive from 12:30 a.m. WIB by bringing a valid ticket for the specified travel dates. We encourage everyone to follow the instructions of our staff so the event can run safely, smoothly, and enjoyably," Anne added.

Anne explained that the program represents one of KAI's latest onboard themed entertainment initiatives. The Dining Car serves as a shared space where customers can enjoy the live match, dine, and interact throughout their journey. The activities are conducted while maintaining food and beverage services, onboard orderliness, staff accessibility, and the comfort of passengers who prefer to rest during the trip.
"The Dining Car continues to evolve beyond its primary function as a dining facility, becoming a space where customers can socialize and enjoy themed entertainment. All activities are carried out in full compliance with operational and railway safety standards," Anne said.
The use of Dining Cars as entertainment spaces is supported by KAI's ongoing rolling stock modernization program. According to company data, Balai Yasa Tegal has completed the modification of 17 M1 Dining Cars over the past two years. The M1 Dining Cars support executive-class train services. Four units were completed in 2024 and another 13 units in 2025. All 17 cars are now in operation on various train services.
In 2026, an additional 10 M1 Dining Cars are undergoing modification at Balai Yasa Tegal, KAI's railway maintenance, overhaul, and rolling stock development facility.
Each car undergoes comprehensive inspection and refurbishment, covering the underframe, wheelsets, braking system, electrical system, lighting, interior layout, and customer facilities. Upon completion, every car is subjected to quality inspections and functional testing before entering commercial service.
The upgraded M1 Dining Cars are now operating on train services across both Java and Sumatra. One of the latest implementations is on the Sindang Marga service operating between Kertapati and Lubuklinggau in South Sumatra.
