KAI Invites 607 Orphanage Children to Experience an Educational Journey on Whoosh
In welcoming Railway Day, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), together with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), invited children from orphanages to learn about the development of railway technology in Indonesia through the Whoosh Berbagi Ceria Batch II program.
A total of 607 children from 20 orphanages, accompanied by 38 caregivers, took an educational journey on the Whoosh high-speed train from Halim Station to Tegalluar Summarecon Station on Tuesday (September 22). The activity gave participants the opportunity to directly experience using modern transportation in Indonesia.
KAI Finance and General Director Indarto Pamoengkas said that the activity provided an opportunity for the children to experience the development of railway technology in Indonesia.
“KAI has come a long way, from conventional trains to now having high-technology trains such as high-speed trains. On this occasion, we want to share this experience so that children from orphanages can also enjoy the progress achieved by Indonesia through PT KAI,” said Indarto.
Indarto expressed his appreciation to KCIC for supporting the activity and giving the children the opportunity to experience traveling on Whoosh.
“We would like to thank KCIC and its team for welcoming KAI’s invitation to share this experience and give the children an opportunity to enjoy a journey on a high-speed train,” he added.
As Indonesia’s first high-speed train, Whoosh is part of the development of national railway technology. From January to August 2026, Whoosh served 4,078,168 customers. The presence of Whoosh has introduced a new rail-based travel experience using high-speed train technology connecting Jakarta and Bandung.
Through the Whoosh Berbagi Ceria program, participants took an educational journey while learning about various aspects of railway services, from traveling on Whoosh and learning about modern transportation to getting to know different railway professions.
In addition to the high-speed train journey, KAI and KCIC also held a sharing activity with the orphanage children by providing donations, gift packages, and school supplies.
Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) Customer Relations Manager Andre Purwandono appreciated the Whoosh Berbagi Ceria activity involving children from orphanages.
“This activity provides an opportunity for the children to experience riding a high-speed train firsthand. We hope activities like this can continue to be held so that more people can become familiar with high-speed trains,” said Andre.
Through Whoosh Berbagi Ceria, KAI and KCIC provided a travel experience that introduced the development of railway technology in Indonesia while sharing happiness with children from orphanages.
