Ahead of the school holiday weekend, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reminds the public that the 30 percent transportation discount tickets from the government, through the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation (DJKA Kemenhub), are still available. This program is valid for travel periods from June 20 to July 5, 2026.

As of June 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM WIB, discounted ticket bookings had reached 924,105 tickets or 78.67 percent of the total capacity of 1,174,624 seats. With this achievement, 250,519 discounted seats remain available for the public to utilize while the program quota lasts.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that weekends are one of the favorite times for families to travel, especially during the school holiday period. Therefore, KAI invites customers to plan their journeys in advance, check schedules regularly, and adjust departure time options through the Access by KAI application.

"There is still an opportunity for the public to utilize the 30 percent discount tickets from the government through DJKA Kemenhub. Ahead of this weekend, we encourage customers to choose their schedules more carefully so that their journeys with family can run comfortably, orderly, and according to plan,"

Public interest in this program appears strong on weekend dates and the beginning of the holiday period. The highest booking volume was recorded on June 21, 2026, with 82,061 tickets, followed by June 26, 2026, with 80,544 tickets, and June 20, 2026, with 77,505 tickets. For the closest upcoming weekend, bookings on June 27, 2026, were recorded at 71,473 tickets, and June 28, 2026, at 68,312 tickets.

Anne explained that customers who are still arranging their holiday plans can consider dates with lower demand. On June 30, 2026, the booking volume was recorded at 34,255 tickets, then July 1, 2026, with 29,614 tickets, and July 2, 2026, with 30,913 tickets. This pattern can be a consideration for families who want to manage their journey with a more relaxed atmosphere.

"School holidays are often a moment for families to return to their hometowns, visit relatives, or introduce children to new experiences by train. Good planning will help customers get appropriate travel options, including the choice of departure dates and hours,"

In terms of departure stations, the highest utilization of discounted tickets was recorded at Pasarsenen Station with 111,570 tickets, followed by Yogyakarta Station with 65,625 tickets, Semarang Tawang Station with 43,705 tickets, Semarang Poncol Station with 39,644 tickets, and Lempuyangan Station with 37,087 tickets.

For families, this program helps manage holiday budgets. For the regions, customer travel helps revitalize economic activities around the stations, ranging from culinary, lodging, secondary transportation, to local business actors.

"KAI is grateful for the government's support through DJKA Kemenhub in presenting transportation discounts for the public. We hope this program can expand access to safe, comfortable, and affordable travel during the school holidays,"

KAI urges customers to book tickets through the Access by KAI application, the official website kai.id, and other official sales channels. Customers are also reminded to arrive earlier at the station, ensure ticket data matches their identity, bring luggage in accordance with regulations, and look after children while in the station area and inside the train.

"Travel safety and comfort are always the priority. Let's make use of the school holiday period in an orderly manner, respect fellow customers, and follow the instructions of officers during the journey,"
