
School Holiday Discounts Still Available for 552,457 Train Seats
The 30% School Holiday Transportation Discount Program, provided by the Government through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, remains available for the public. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted that as of Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM WIB, a total of 622,167 tickets had been booked. This accounts for 52.97 percent of the total quota of 1,174,624 seats provided by KAI for the travel period from June 20 to July 5, 2026.
With this achievement, there are still 552,457 seats available for people planning their school holiday trips by train at affordable prices. KAI encourages customers to immediately check schedules, routes, and ticket availability through the Access by KAI application to enjoy more travel time options.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that this fare discount program is an excellent opportunity for the public to enjoy school holiday trips at a more economical cost, particularly for families wishing to travel to various cities by train.
“This 30 percent discount program is a form of support from the Government through the DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation to help the public enjoy school holiday travel with more affordable fares. KAI has prepared the service quota and simplified the booking process through official channels, especially Access by KAI,”
Anne mentioned that the public can directly open Access by KAI to check departure schedules, select travel routes, view seat availability, and book tickets. As long as the quota lasts, customers can utilize the discounts in accordance with the program terms.
“For customers currently planning their holidays, please check Access by KAI. There are still 552,457 seats available to be utilized, though seat availability will continuously adjust based on customer bookings,”
Based on departure dates, the highest number of bookings recorded so far occurred on June 21, 2026, with 82,064 tickets, followed by June 20, 2026, with 77,505 tickets, and June 22, 2026, with 66,523 tickets. This pattern indicates that public enthusiasm has been strong since the beginning of the school holiday period and continues into the early week.
Meanwhile, the top five departure stations with the highest booking volumes are Pasarsenen with 82,603 tickets, Yogyakarta with 44,824 tickets, Semarang Tawang with 28,407 tickets, Lempuyangan with 27,415 tickets, and Bekasi with 24,614 tickets.
On the other hand, the top five destination stations with the highest volumes are Pasarsenen with 76,841 tickets, Yogyakarta with 49,987 tickets, Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng with 27,279 tickets, Lempuyangan with 25,640 tickets, and Bekasi with 25,466 tickets.
KAI urges customers to book early, ensure their identity data matches the tickets, recheck departure schedules, and arrive at the station early to ensure a smooth boarding process.
