KAI President Director Inspects Commuter Line and Long Distance Train Operations, Ensures Hospital Care for Passengers Is Well Managed
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) President Director Bobby Rasyidin conducted a direct inspection of railway operations, covering both Commuter Line and Long Distance Train services along the Manggarai–Bekasi Timur corridor, to ensure that train operations remain safe and increasingly stable ahead of the start of the workweek.
The visit began at Manggarai Station, the main operational hub, before continuing along the Bekasi corridor to Bekasi Timur Station to directly observe Commuter Line operations, the smooth movement of long distance trains, and the assistance services that remain in place at the location.
At Bekasi Timur, attention was focused on the Information Post, which serves as a support center for passengers and their families. The inspection then continued to Primaya Hospital Bekasi Timur and Primaya Hospital Bekasi Barat to ensure that passengers still receiving treatment were being well cared for while also conveying support directly to them.
During the visit, Bobby also expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the various parties involved throughout the response process. At Bekasi Timur Station, floral arrangements and messages of encouragement from the public were displayed as expressions of concern and solidarity for the affected passengers.
"The care and support shown by so many people give us the strength to keep moving forward. Our focus now is to ensure that the recovery process proceeds well, to continue assisting passengers and their families, and to strengthen safety going forward. We will remain present throughout every step of the process," said Bobby.
As the recovery process continues, KAI is regularly monitoring the condition of affected passengers. As of Sunday (3 May) at 07:00 WIB, 81 hospitalized passengers had been discharged and returned home after completing their treatment, while 19 passengers remained under medical care in hospitals.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that assistance continues to be provided to ensure the recovery process proceeds smoothly.
"We continue to monitor the condition of passengers who are still receiving treatment and ensure that all their medical needs are met. For passengers who have returned home, we will continue to provide assistance according to their needs," said Anne.
For passengers who have sought medical treatment independently, KAI provides a claim or reimbursement mechanism. The required documents include proof of payment containing travel information, the passenger's identification, medical receipts and detailed treatment costs, a medical summary, and a copy of the passenger's bank account information. Once all required documents have been verified as complete, the claim process will be coordinated with the insurance provider.
"The claim process will be completed within a maximum of 21 working days after all required documents have been declared complete. Passengers will be contacted again by the relevant parties together with KAI," Anne added.
Trauma healing services are also available for passengers who require them. Requests can be submitted through the Information Post or by calling the hotline at 0812-9660-5747. Initial assistance may be provided through telemedicine, while in-person support is available for passengers' families when needed.
The Bekasi Timur Information Post will remain operational until 11 May 2026, providing information services, administrative assistance, and ongoing support.
On the operational side, Jabodetabek Commuter Line services have shown consistent improvement over the past several days. Departure punctuality increased from 71.54 percent on 30 April to 87.39 percent on 1 May, before reaching 88.84 percent on 2 May. Arrival punctuality also improved from 68.46 percent to 84.86 percent, and further increased to 87.04 percent. The number of delayed train services has continued to decline, while delays have become shorter and more manageable.
Similar improvements have also been recorded on the Cikarang Line. Departure punctuality increased from 50 percent to 61 percent, and then to 66 percent, while arrival punctuality improved from 44 percent to 57 percent and subsequently to 61 percent. This trend reflects an increasingly stable normalization process.
Long-Distance Train services passing through the Bekasi Timur area have also resumed operating under a stable operational pattern. Each day, 32 train services from Pasarsenen Station and 36 train services from Gambir Station operate through this corridor.
Since operations resumed on 28 April through 2 May 2026, Commuter Line services on the Cikarang Line have served a total of 574,644 passengers.
"We understand that every journey is meaningful to every passenger. Therefore, we will continue to stand by our customers, ensure safe operations, and maintain reliable railway services going forward," Anne concluded.
