School Holiday Weekend: 987,851 Discounted Transportation Tickets Booked by Customers
The weekend is one of the most anticipated moments during the school holiday period. In many stations, the atmosphere of families carrying children, small suitcases, and travel snacks brings a warm touch to public mobility. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted that customer enthusiasm for train travel remains high, including through the 30 percent transportation discount program for the 2026 school holiday period.
Based on KAI data as of June 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM WIB, a total of 987,851 discounted transportation tickets have been booked by customers for departure periods from June 20 to July 5, 2026. With this achievement, 186,773 seats remain available for the public to plan school holiday trips with their families.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that school holidays provide space for families to enjoy time together, visit hometowns, and introduce children to the experience of riding a train. According to her, the high volume of discounted ticket bookings indicates that trains remain the public's choice due to scheduled, comfortable journeys that reach many cities.
“This Saturday, many families are already on their journeys, while some other customers are starting to prepare departures for the weekend and next week. KAI invites the public to utilize the remaining discounted seats by planning their trips early, choosing appropriate dates, and ensuring all travel data is correct before departing,”
Customer enthusiasm is evident from the distribution of discounted ticket volumes based on departure dates. On June 26, 2026, the volume of discounted tickets was recorded at 85,397 customers. Customers are expected to arrive earlier at the station, bring sufficient luggage, look after children while in the station area, and follow the instructions of officers when boarding and disembarking from the train.
“School holidays always bring family stories. Therefore, KAI wants the customers' journeys to proceed peacefully from the moment they arrive at the station until they reach their destination city. Safety remains the priority, so we invite customers to maintain order, pay attention to their luggage, and give space to customers who need it more,”
KAI also invites people who are still arranging their holiday agendas to check ticket availability regularly through Access by KAI and official KAI ticket sales channels. With good planning, weekend and school holiday journeys can run more comfortably, orderly, and enjoyably for all customers.
