Start the Week with Greater Confidence: Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line Serves More Than 1 Million Passengers Through May 2026
For many people, Monday morning marks the beginning of a busy week. Employees head to work, business owners carry out their commercial activities, while travelers and airline passengers continue their journeys to various destinations. In such circumstances, reliable travel time has become increasingly important, particularly for those traveling to and from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line (Commuter Line Basoetta) served 1,013,574 passengers from January through May 2026. This represents an increase of 14.78 percent compared with the same period in 2025, when the service recorded 883,065 passengers.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said the increase reflects growing public confidence in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line as a transportation option that provides greater travel certainty amid the heavy mobility of Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
"As public mobility continues to increase, the need for reliable transportation becomes even greater. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line provides a travel option that helps customers manage their time more effectively, whether for work, business, or continuing their journey by air," said Anne.
The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line connects Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with central Jakarta through six stations: Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Batu Ceper, Rawa Buaya, Duri, BNI City, and Manggarai. This service enables customers to continue their journeys conveniently to business districts, government centers, commercial areas, and other urban transportation networks.
The importance of this service continues to grow given that Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is Indonesia's primary aviation gateway. According to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the airport served 34.76 million passengers and recorded 229,000 aircraft movements throughout 2025. Soekarno-Hatta also functions as a major domestic and international aviation hub connecting Indonesia with cities across the country and around the world.
The high volume of air traffic has made the need for efficient onward transportation increasingly important. Operating on a dedicated railway line separated from road traffic congestion, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line offers a more predictable mobility alternative. Customers can estimate their departure and arrival times more accurately, making journeys to the city center or the airport more convenient and reliable.
KAI continues to improve its services to meet the evolving mobility needs of the public. Enhancing service quality, improving comfort at stations and onboard trains, expanding intermodal integration, and leveraging digital technology are all part of the company's ongoing efforts.
Anne added that reliable public transportation plays an important role in supporting community productivity and ensuring the smooth operation of urban economic activities.
"Every minute matters for people carrying out their daily activities. Therefore, KAI remains committed to providing services that help customers travel with greater certainty, comfort, and efficiency. We hope the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line will continue to be the preferred choice for connecting the airport with central Jakarta,"
