More Affordable School Holidays, KAI Offers 30 Percent Discount for Commercial Economy Trains

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is offering a 30 percent fare discount for trips using Commercial Economy-class trains. This program provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy more affordable journeys during the school holiday period, whether for tourism, visiting family, or carrying out various activities in different destination cities.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that school holidays are one of the periods with high public mobility. During this time, many families take advantage of the holiday period to travel to various regions. Therefore, KAI is presenting a more affordable fare program so that more people can plan their journeys using railway transportation.

“School holidays are a moment eagerly awaited by many families to travel together. Through this 30 percent discount program, KAI wants to provide convenience for the public to enjoy safe, comfortable, and affordable journeys by train,” said Anne.

The 30 percent discount applies to ticket purchases starting from 6 June 2026 through all official KAI sales channels. The discounted fares can be used for journeys during the period of 20 June to 5 July 2026, coinciding with the school holiday period in various regions.

According to Anne, this program is expected to help the public plan their trips earlier while providing an economical transportation alternative amid increasing travel needs during the holiday season. Trains remain a preferred choice due to their punctuality, travel comfort, and easy access to various destination cities.

Various Commercial Economy-class train routes serving intercity travel can be utilized by the public to reach tourist destinations, educational centers, cultural areas, and economic hubs in different regions. The availability of this discount program also supports community mobility during the school holiday period while encouraging economic activities in areas connected by railway services.

The terms and conditions of the discount program are as follows:
1. Discount fare tickets can be purchased through all ticket sales channels starting from 6 June 2026.
2. Discount fares are valid for departures from 20 June to 5 July 2026.
3. The discount applies specifically to Commercial Economy-class trains.
4. The discount does not apply to special fares and cannot be combined with reductions and/or other discounts.
5. Tickets purchased with discounted fares can be canceled and rescheduled according to applicable regulations.
6. Train schedules and available routes can be viewed through the Access by KAI application.
7. The program applies as long as discounted ticket allocations and fares remain available.

Anne added that this program is introduced to provide broader opportunities for the public to enjoy journeys during the school holiday period. With a service network covering various cities and destinations, trains serve as a transportation mode that connects people with different travel purposes safely, comfortably, and efficiently.
