Along Java's northern railway corridor, which has long served as a major artery for public mobility, Haurgeulis Station continues to serve passengers traveling to various major cities across the island. Located in Indramayu Regency, the station has become an important transportation hub for communities in the northern coastal region of West Java.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that during January–April 2026, Haurgeulis Station served 49,486 departing passengers, an increase compared with 45,836 during the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, arriving passenger volume reached 49,133, up from 43,943 passengers during January–April 2025.

Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that the growth reflects strong travel demand from residents of Haurgeulis and surrounding areas for economic activities, education, family visits, and tourism.

“Haurgeulis Station supports community mobility to various destinations across Java. This passenger growth demonstrates that rail transportation remains an efficient, comfortable, and reliable travel option with more predictable journey times.”

The increase in mobility is also in line with the socioeconomic development of Indramayu Regency. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Indramayu Regency, the region's population reached approximately 1.94 million in 2025. Meanwhile, the regency's economy grew by around 5% in 2025, driven by the trade, agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation sectors.

BPS Indramayu Regency also reported that rice production in 2025 remained among the highest in West Java, with hundreds of thousands of hectares harvested annually. The continued growth of local economic activities has further increased the demand for intercity rail travel.

Haurgeulis Station itself has a long history as part of Java's northern railway corridor, which was developed during the era of the Staatsspoorwegen. Historically, this railway served as an important route for transporting agricultural products and facilitating trade from the northern coastal region to major cities across Java.

Today, Haurgeulis Station serves a wide range of train services operating along both the northern and central-southern railway corridors of Java. For the northern route, passengers can travel on the Argo Cheribon Train (Cirebon–Gambir), Ciremai Train (Semarang Tawang–Bandung), Dharmawangsa Train (Surabaya Pasarturi–Pasar Senen), Kertajaya Train (Surabaya Pasarturi–Pasar Senen), Majapahit Train (Malang–Pasar Senen), Tawang Jaya Train (Semarang Poncol–Pasar Senen), as well as the Tegal Bahari and Tegal Ekspres trains (Tegal–Pasar Senen).

For travel via Java's central and southern corridors, passengers can also board the Fajar Utama YK Train (Yogyakarta–Pasar Senen), Fajar Utama Solo Train (Solo Balapan–Pasar Senen), Bogowonto Train (Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen), Bangunkarta Train (Jombang–Pasar Senen), Brantas Train (Blitar–Pasar Senen), Singasari Train (Blitar–Pasar Senen), Mataram Train (Solo Balapan–Pasar Senen), Gaya Baru Malam Selatan Train (Surabaya Gubeng–Pasar Senen), Jaka Tingkir Train (Solo Purwosari–Pasar Senen), and Kutojaya Utara Train (Kutoarjo–Pasar Senen).

The wide range of train services makes Haurgeulis Station an important gateway for passengers traveling to Jakarta, Cirebon, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, and Malang. During weekends and holiday seasons, the station also experiences increased passenger traffic from travelers taking leisure trips or visiting family.

“The diverse train services available at Haurgeulis Station provide greater mobility for communities in Indramayu and the surrounding areas. KAI remains committed to maintaining high service quality to ensure every journey is safe, comfortable, and on time.”
