Mornings along the Sukabumi–Cianjur–Cipatat route always begin with various stories, destinations, and hopes. There are traders carrying their goods since dawn, students heading to school, workers rushing to arrive at the office on the first day of work, and parents wanting to meet their families in neighboring cities. Amid these simple journeys, the Siliwangi Train has become a part of people’s daily lives.

From January to April 2026, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that the Siliwangi Train had served 457,890 customers. The high number of customers shows that trains remain the main choice for people on the Cianjuran route because of their safety, affordability, and comfort for daily use.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that the Siliwangi Train has a very strong connection with the community because it has long served as a link for various daily activities of residents in the Sukabumi, Cianjur, and West Bandung areas.

"Every Siliwangi Train journey carries many stories of life. There are students traveling to pursue their dreams, traders earning a living for their families, and people traveling to meet their loved ones. Therefore, the Siliwangi Train holds a very close meaning for the community," she said.

Through the Public Service Obligation (PSO) scheme, people can enjoy a journey of approximately 67 kilometers with a fare of Rp5,000. This fare helps communities reduce daily travel costs, especially for customers who regularly travel for work, school, trading activities, or interregional activities.

The Siliwangi Train journey begins at Sukabumi Station, which is filled with community activities every day. The train then passes through Gandasoli Station, Cireungas, Cibadak, Karangtengah, Cianjur, Ciranjang, Cipeuyeum, Gekbrong, Lampegan, Cibeber, and ends at Cipatat Station.

Each station has its own stories and activities. In Cibadak and Cireungas, trains play an important role in supporting mobility in trading and agricultural areas. In Cianjur and Ciranjang, train services help people access education centers, healthcare services, and economic activities. Meanwhile, in the Lampegan and Cibeber areas, the mountainous atmosphere creates a calm and warm travel experience.

From the train window, customers can enjoy views of rice fields, green hills, and the refreshing mountain air. When the train enters the legendary Lampegan Tunnel, the journey feels like taking customers through the long history of railway development in the Priangan region.

The Siliwangi Train also serves as an important access route to various tourist destinations in West Java. From Cibeber Station, customers can continue their journey to the Gunung Padang Megalithic Site. Meanwhile, from Cipatat Station, people can visit Stone Garden and Pawon Cave, known as ancient karst landscapes with significant historical value.

According to Anne, the existence of the Siliwangi Train also helps maintain the circulation of the local economy along the Cianjuran route. Easier mobility allows local trade activities, agricultural product distribution, and the tourism sector to develop further.

"Many customers already know each other because they meet almost every day on the same journey. A sense of closeness grows inside the train. Therefore, the Siliwangi Train has become part of the lives of communities along this route," she said.
