PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), together with KAI Commuter, is currently carrying out the revitalization and extension of Platforms 6, 7, and 8 at Bogor Station as part of efforts to increase Commuter Line service capacity on the Bogor Line. The project has been underway since 15 April 2026 and is targeted for completion in July 2026.

The revitalization is being carried out to support the operation of 12-car Commuter Line trainsets (SF12), enabling greater passenger capacity per trip in line with the growing mobility of the public along the Bogor Line corridor.

Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that improving passenger facilities at Bogor Station is an important step in maintaining smooth mobility for Commuter Line passengers, whose numbers continue to grow each year.

“The Bogor Line is one of the busiest corridors in the Greater Jakarta area in terms of passenger mobility. The continuous growth in passenger volume must be matched by adequate station capacity and operational patterns to ensure optimal service for customers.”

Currently, the frequency of Commuter Line services at Bogor Station reaches 392 trips per day on weekdays and 373 trips per day on weekends. This high service frequency makes Bogor Station one of the busiest stations in the Greater Jakarta Commuter Line network.

Passenger data show a consistent upward trend year after year. From January to April 2026, the number of passengers entering through the gates at Bogor Station reached 6,140,074, while passengers exiting the station totaled 5,959,832.

Throughout 2025, gate-in volume at Bogor Station reached 18,199,619 passengers and gate-out volume reached 18,171,350 passengers. These figures increased compared to 2024, when gate-in volume totaled 17,124,802 passengers and gate-out volume reached 17,276,284 passengers.

Passenger growth is also evident across the entire Bogor Line. In 2022, the line served 102,054,022 passengers. This increased to 133,040,885 passengers in 2023, rose again to 145,920,264 passengers in 2024, and reached 155,009,997 passengers in 2025.

Meanwhile, from January to April 2026, the Bogor Line had already served 51,868,066 passengers. This high level of mobility demonstrates the Commuter Line's role as the primary mode of transportation for urban communities in supporting their daily activities.

Anne explained that operating 12-car trainsets will provide greater passenger capacity per trip, enabling a better distribution of passengers, particularly during peak hours.

“The additional capacity provided through the operation of 12-car trainsets is intended to accommodate the growing needs of passengers. With greater capacity on each trip, services are expected to become smoother and the customer travel experience more comfortable.”

In addition to extending the platforms and adjusting the tracks, the revitalization also includes the construction of new platform canopies for Platforms 6, 7, and 8. The canopies are designed to connect directly with the station concourse, providing greater comfort for passengers while waiting or transferring between platforms, particularly during rainy weather and hot conditions.

The revitalization project has now entered the stage of reinstalling Overhead Catenary System (OCS) poles and constructing the new platform structures. All work is targeted for completion and full operation by July 2026.

During the revitalization process, adjustments have been made to operational patterns and passenger service flows within the station area. KAI and KAI Commuter continue to manage passenger movement, optimize staff services, and strengthen travel information to ensure passenger mobility remains safe, orderly, and smooth throughout the construction period.

To support smooth passenger mobility, a temporary pedestrian area has also been provided along the station concourse, along with passenger flow management during peak hours. Passengers heading to the West Hall may be directed via the Paledang Pedestrian Overpass (JPO), while other passengers may be directed to the Taman Topi Hall and the East Entrance of Bogor Station.

“The development and improvement of passenger facilities are being carried out gradually while prioritizing the safety of Commuter Line operations and passengers. All work is being performed carefully to avoid disrupting train operations. During the revitalization process, we recognize that these adjustments may affect passenger comfort. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and encourage customers to remain cautious and follow the instructions of station personnel.”
