Long weekends often reshape travel patterns among residents of Greater Jakarta. While weekday mobility is dominated by trips to economic centers, long holiday periods see a shift toward tourist destinations and quieter satellite cities. Along the Bogor–Sukabumi route, this trend is reflected in the growing number of passengers choosing the Pangrango Local Train.

As of May 15, 2026, at 10:00 WIB, a total of 17,689 customers had purchased Pangrango Train tickets for the long weekend period. This figure demonstrates that local rail services are becoming an increasingly preferred option, offering reliable travel times amid the heavy road congestion that frequently occurs on the Bogor–Sukabumi corridor during weekends and holiday seasons.

The Pangrango Train operates between Bogor Paledang and Sukabumi using Executive and Economy Class coaches, with fares starting from Rp40,000. With a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, the train passes through Batutulis, Maseng, Cigombong, Cicurug, Cibadak, and Cisaat before arriving in Sukabumi.

Along this route, railway transportation has become an integral part of the region’s economic activity. Reliable scheduling makes travel more efficient for tourists, daily commuters, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and people traveling between regions. Areas that were once known for severe weekend traffic congestion now have a more dependable and predictable travel alternative.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the Pangrango Train has become an important transportation link for communities traveling between Bogor and Sukabumi.

“The Pangrango Train offers the public a more efficient and affordable travel option. When vehicle volumes increase during long weekends, rail transportation provides reliable travel times, allowing people to plan their journeys with greater convenience,” said Anne.

From a tourism perspective, the Pangrango Train also expands access to various destinations along the Bogor–Sukabumi corridor. Tourists can reach the Lido area via Cigombong Station, access the Situgunung Nature Tourism area through Cisaat Station, or visit the heritage district of Batutulis in Bogor City. These travel patterns help stimulate local economies by encouraging visitors to explore multiple destinations rather than concentrating in a single location.

Improved connectivity has further strengthened the role of this service. The skybridge connecting Bogor Station and Bogor Paledang Station enables Commuter Line passengers from Jakarta to continue their journey conveniently to Sukabumi. Integration with Trans Pakuan and JR Connexion also extends travel options without requiring passengers to rely entirely on private vehicles.

The impact of this growing mobility is reflected in the increasing passenger volume at Bogor Paledang Station. During the first quarter of 2026, departing passenger volume reached 127,510, representing a 410 percent increase compared to 24,979 passengers during the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, arriving passenger volume reached 130,515, an increase of 561 percent compared to 19,729 passengers in the first quarter of 2025.

This significant growth indicates that Bogor Paledang Station has developed into a new mobility hub in the southern Greater Jakarta area. Beyond serving as a departure point, the station has become an important part of both daily commuting and tourism travel patterns as demand continues to grow for practical, affordable, and integrated public transportation.

“KAI views the growth in passenger numbers along the Bogor–Sukabumi corridor as an indicator of increasing public confidence in rail-based public transportation. We remain committed to maintaining the reliability of the Pangrango Train to support community mobility and sustainable regional development,” Anne concluded.
