
Long-Distance Train Operations Gradually Recover, Almost All Trips Running On Time
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) stated that Long-Distance Train operations on Friday, May 1, 2026, showed an increasingly strong recovery trend, with nearly all journeys returning to running on time.
Based on reports for the period of Friday (5/1) from 00:01 WIB to 12:00 WIB, operational performance continued to improve across various routes following phased travel adjustments.
On departures, out of a total of 144 train trips, 143 trains or 99.31% departed on time, while 1 train experienced a delay of 17 minutes.
Meanwhile, on arrivals, out of a total of 140 train trips, 99 trains or 70.71% arrived on time.
Arrival delays generally ranged from less than 20 minutes to around 30 minutes, remaining within a manageable delay category during the operational normalization process.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that current operational conditions continue to show improvement.
"Most train trips have returned to schedule. We continue to ensure operational adjustments are carried out in a measured manner with safety as the priority, so that services can return to full normality," said Anne.
KAI also ensured that customer rights remain fulfilled through a full ticket refund policy following the Eastern Bekasi incident. As of May 1, 2026, at 08:00 WIB, a total of 20,750 Long-Distance Train tickets have been successfully refunded to customers.
Refunds were processed at 100% excluding booking fees and could be accessed through various service channels, including station ticket counters, Contact Center 121, and the Access by KAI application.
"KAI continues to maintain service consistency and ensure train journeys can run optimally alongside the ongoing recovery process," Anne concluded.
