Bekasi–Cikarang KRL Trial Run Runs Smoothly; Phased Recovery Continues with Safety as Priority
The recovery of KRL services on the Bekasi–Cikarang route is beginning to show progress. After the evacuation of facilities and infrastructure was carried out gradually, the first operational trial was successfully and safely implemented.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that on Wednesday (29/4) at 11.55 Western Indonesia Time, the test train set CL-125.4008 passed through East Bekasi Station as part of testing route readiness.
"This trial is an important part of ensuring the readiness of infrastructure, signaling, and safety aspects before services resume. The entire process is carried out carefully by prioritizing safety," Anne said.
Amidst this recovery process, the main focus remains on handling the victims. To date, a total of 107 victims have been recorded, consisting of 16 dead and 91 injured. Of that number, 43 passengers have been allowed to return home, while the rest are still undergoing treatment in hospitals.
"We convey our deepest condolences to all victims and their grieving families. Our current focus is ensuring that all victims receive the best care and that families obtain the information they need," Anne continued.
KAI also ensures that the victims' belongings found at the location will be cataloged and returned to their families gradually through a coordinated mechanism.
To support information needs, KAI has stationed posts at two locations, namely at East Bekasi Station to assist victims' families, and at Gambir Station to serve affected Long-Distance Train customers, including the ticket fare refund process.
KAI emphasizes that operational recovery will be carried out gradually, in line with evaluation and testing results ensuring that all safety aspects are met.
KAI will continue to deliver regular information updates along with the progress of handling in the field.
