KAI Expresses Deep Condolences as Evacuation and Emergency Response Remain Ongoing

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) stated that an operational incident has occurred in the East Bekasi Station area, Operation Area 1 Jakarta, which has impacted train journeys. 

KAI expresses its deepest condolences regarding this incident. This situation brings sorrow to passengers and families waiting for news. Currently, all efforts are focused on evacuation and victim management with the top priority being the safety and condition of every passenger. 

All 240 passengers of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train have been successfully evacuated safely. 

Meanwhile, handling is focused on affected KRL passengers. To date, as many as 38 KRL passengers have been taken to hospitals for further medical attention. They were referred to several nearest health facilities, including Bekasi Regional General Hospital (RSUD Bekasi), Primaya Hospital Bekasi Timur, Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, and Bella Bekasi General Hospital (RSSU Bella Bekasi). 

During the handling process, KAI, together with Basarnas, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and medical teams, moved quickly to provide assistance and ensure all victims receive care as quickly as possible. 

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba expressed apologies to all customers. 

"We convey our deepest condolences and apologies for this incident. Our current focus is ensuring that all victims receive the best care. We understand the sorrow felt by the families, and we continue to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure the handling process runs smoothly," she said. 

Along with the handling at the location, KAI is adjusting the KRL operation pattern to match track conditions so that services to customers can continue gradually. 

For passengers of KA 4 Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Surabaya Pasar Turi – Gambir route, KAI has prepared bus services to continue the journey to Gambir Station as part of continued service. 

All Long-Distance Train journeys departing from Gambir and Pasarsenen Stations are temporarily suspended to support the handling process and ensure travel safety.

- KA 143B Madiun Jaya (Madiun – Pasarsenen) 
- KA 17 Argo Sindoro (Semarang Tawang – Gambir) 

Based on preliminary data, 4 KRL passengers have passed away. KAI expresses its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their grieving families.
