The movement of people at the beginning of 2026 continues to rise and become increasingly interconnected between regions. Trains are present in various activities, ranging from daily commutes, Lebaran homecoming trips, to mobility during long holiday periods.

Throughout January to March 2026, KAI Group served 128,055,072 passengers, marking a 9.97% increase compared to the same period in 2025, which saw 116,451,006 passengers. This increase opens up broader spaces for interaction between passengers and various economic activities within station areas.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that this surge in mobility also presents opportunities for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to grow.

"The continuous flow of passengers serves as an opportunity for local business owners to reach a wider market. KAI provides commercial spaces at stations so that MSEs can grow alongside ongoing travel activities," Anne said.

In various regions, such as Cipeundeuy Station, KAI provides business spaces for MSEs to conduct their commercial activities directly in areas with high passenger traffic. This condition provides consistent daily access to potential customers.

For MSEs, their presence at stations opens opportunities to introduce products to passengers from various regions. Direct interactions help build trust, strengthen local product identity, and encourage improvements in quality and innovation.

Beyond market access, MSEs are also provided with opportunities to develop business capacities through various coaching programs. KAI runs the Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK) to provide financing access that supports business sustainability.

KAI also presents the KAI Creative Space program through Teras UMK, which opens marketing opportunities in strategic locations and enhances product visibility. Business owners can sell directly to customers while building closer interactive experiences with consumers.

Through the KAI Exhibition program, MSEs are also facilitated in participating in various exhibitions at regional, national, and international levels. This opportunity expands business networks and opens access to larger markets.

To date, KAI manages 490 fostered partners spread across various operational regions. The existence of these fostered partners demonstrates how railway activities can connect with community economic development in diverse regions.

"Through station business spaces, financing access, and promotional facilities, KAI continuously opens opportunities for MSEs to grow and strengthen their businesses. We want the mobility growth that is taking place to be felt directly by the community through enhanced economic activity," Anne concluded.
