PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) presents the new Sangkuriang Train service providing direct travel on the Bandung–Ketapang, Banyuwangi route. This service begins operating on May 1, 2026 for the Bandung–Ketapang direction (Train 7044A), while the reverse route from Ketapang–Bandung (Train 7043A) starts running on May 2, 2026.

The introduction of the Sangkuriang Train offers convenience for passengers wishing to travel from Bandung to Banyuwangi without the need for transfers. This service is expected to further strengthen inter-regional connectivity across Java Island while delivering a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the launch of the Sangkuriang Train is part of the company's ongoing commitment to improving customer service.

"The Sangkuriang Train is introduced to provide more practical long-distance travel access for the public. With a direct route from Bandung to Banyuwangi, passengers can now enjoy a more efficient journey without needing to change trains," said Anne.

As a token of appreciation to customers, KAI is also offering a 50% ticket discount promotion specifically for the inaugural Bandung–Ketapang trip on May 1, 2026. These promotional tickets can be purchased through the Access by KAI application and other official sales channels.

The Sangkuriang Train provides a diverse selection of service classes, ranging from Economy and Executive to the Suite Class Compartment, designed to accommodate passengers with varying preferences for comfort.

Along its route, the Sangkuriang Train passes through several key cities such as Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Yogyakarta, Solo, Madiun, Surabaya, and Jember before arriving in Banyuwangi. This corridor opens broader access for the public to explore various tourism potentials, spanning nature, culinary delights, history, and culture.

Anne added that KAI continually strives to introduce service innovations relevant to community needs.

"We hope the presence of the Sangkuriang Train can become a primary choice for the public when undertaking intercity rail travel," she concluded.
