Amid the green rolling hills of Cianjur, Lampegan Station stands quietly, serving a journey that may appear simple yet holds great significance for the surrounding community. From this small platform, daily activities keep moving, connecting villages to cities in an ever-changing daily rhythm.

This station serves one primary route: the Siliwangi Train operating on the Cipatat–Sukabumi round-trip line. For local residents, this train is an integral part of daily life, utilized for heading to town to trade, working, taking care of daily business, and returning home to see family.

Throughout January to March 2026, a total of 8,482 passengers departed from Lampegan Station, while 9,680 passengers arrived at the station. This figure represents an increase compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 7,502 boarding passengers and 7,589 alighting passengers. An increase of approximately 13.1% for departing passengers and 27.6% for arriving passengers highlights the steadily growing travel needs of the community.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that journeys originating from small stations like Lampegan carry a deep connection to everyday life.

"At Lampegan Station, travel feels deeply intertwined with daily life. In the morning, some depart carrying goods to sell in the city. From afternoon until evening, others return with stories and the fruits of their labor. In between, the journey also connects families waiting for one another at home," said Anne.

With fares ranging from Rp2,000 to Rp5,000, the Siliwangi Train provides broad accessibility for the public. This affordable travel option helps residents stay connected to activity centers across Sukabumi, Cianjur, and Cipatat.

Around the station, community life thrives through agriculture, plantations, and tourism. Its close proximity to the Gunung Padang Site opens up opportunities for tourist movement arriving via the railway, particularly on weekends.

Lampegan Station also preserves a long historical legacy alongside architectural values that remain intact today. Built between 1879 and 1882, the station is closely tied to the Lampegan Tunnel located nearby. The colonial-style station building features its original symmetrical shape, large windows, and gable roof, and has now been designated as a cultural heritage site by KAI's Center for Architectural Preservation and Design Unit. This status ensures that Lampegan Station remains a living railway heritage site actively used to this day.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 439 meters above sea level, Lampegan Station is surrounded by hills, rice fields, and tea plantations. This setting offers a travel experience closely connected to nature while unlocking potential for the development of history- and landscape-based tourism.

"The growth in passenger volume at Lampegan Station demonstrates that rail services remain a trusted choice for communities across various regions. KAI will continue to maintain these services so they remain accessible and useful for anyone in need," Anne concluded.

From Lampegan Station, journeys continue onward—connecting activities, reuniting families, and carrying hopes that move forward with every departure and arrival.
