PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded an improvement in On Time Performance (OTP) during the first quarter of 2026. This achievement reflects increasingly consistent train journeys, with safety maintained continuously across all operations.

For passenger services, departure OTP reached 99.69% and arrival OTP hit 97.67%. These figures show an increase compared to the first quarter of 2025, which recorded a departure OTP of 99.24% and an arrival OTP of 95.44%. This consistency makes travel planning more predictable from departure to destination.

In freight transport, departure OTP was recorded at 95.97% and arrival OTP at 91.77%. This performance outperforms the same period last year, which saw departure OTP at 95.89% and arrival OTP at 87.04%. Punctuality supports secure logistics distribution that meets operational needs.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that this improvement is supported by infrastructure readiness, rolling stock reliability, and operational discipline implemented alongside strict safety standards.

"Punctuality and safety go hand in hand on every journey. Every process is carefully planned and executed so customers can travel with peace of mind and freight arrives as required," said Anne.

This performance is mirrored by growing service volumes. Throughout the first quarter of 2026, Long-Distance and Local Train services managed by KAI served 14,515,350 passengers, representing an 18.40% increase compared to 12,261,632 passengers during the same period last year.

In the logistics sector, KAI transported 12,075,002 tons of coal to secure electricity supplies across Java and Bali. Additionally, 2,873,440 tons of other goods were hauled, ranging from containers and plantation products to retail shipments supporting regional economic activity.

Anne added that maintained punctuality delivers a direct impact on public activity and the business sector. Consistent schedules facilitate more reliable planning while ensuring freight distribution flows safely.

"Timely journeys help keep activities running according to plan. The public can move with greater certainty, while goods arrive right when needed," Anne concluded.
