KAI Transports 162,261 Tons of Agricultural Products in Q1 2026, Increasing Compared to the Same Period in 2025
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to deliver reliable rail-based logistics services to support national distribution. Throughout the first quarter of 2026, KAI recorded plantation commodity transport volumes reaching 162,261 tons, an increase compared to 156,100 tons during the same period in 2025.
This movement demonstrates that the distribution of plantation products remains steady across various regions. Rail transport provides travel-time certainty paired with high haulage capacity, ensuring commodities move seamlessly from agricultural production areas to processing facilities.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that railway logistics plays a vital role in maintaining the resilience of national supply chains, particularly within the plantation sector.
"Distributing plantation products via rail helps sustain the continuous flow of raw materials from upstream to downstream. With large load capacities and more predictable transit times, commodity movement operates much more efficiently," said Anne.
The utilization of crude palm oil (CPO) has become increasingly strategic alongside the expansion of plant-based biofuel blends in Indonesia. Palm oil serves as a key component in these blends, supporting the ongoing development and adoption of renewable energy.
Through rail-based freight services, raw materials such as CPO can move efficiently from one point to another. These operations support continuous industrial production while helping safeguard domestic energy supplies derived from local raw materials.
"We ensure every logistics run proceeds safely and on schedule. From one journey to the next, this function helps keep economic activity moving forward and growing," Anne concluded.
