The Adi Soemarmo Airport Rail Link service, or KA BIAS, continues to develop as a transportation option that meets a broader range of public needs. From January to March 2026, KA BIAS served 208,583 customers, a 31.12% increase compared to 159,092 customers in the same period of 2025. This growth reflects the increasingly strong role of KA BIAS in connecting the Solo to Madiun region within a single interconnected route.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that KA BIAS has a unique service character because it combines the function of airport access while supporting public mobility at affordable fares.

"In addition to connecting people to the airport, KA BIAS has also become a choice used for various activities. With affordable fares, this service exists as part of the daily life of people in the Solo to Madiun region," said Anne.

In the Daop 6 Yogyakarta region, KA BIAS served 110,320 boarding passengers and 115,482 alighting passengers. Passenger movement was dominated at Solo Balapan Station with 54,572 boarding passengers and 52,296 alighting passengers. Kadipiro, Solo Balapan, Solo Jebres, Palur, up to Adi Soemarmo Airport stations have become interconnected hubs, facilitating transfers from residential areas and activity centers to the airport.

This connectivity continues into the Daop 7 Madiun region with 92,390 boarding passengers and 88,420 alighting passengers. Madiun Station was the point with the highest mobility, recording 52,105 boarding passengers and 51,242 alighting passengers. This route connects Walikukun, Ngawi, Magetan (Barat Station), Madiun, up to Caruban, making interregional travel more practical.

This movement pattern forms an increasingly integrated Solo–Madiun agglomeration. KA BIAS provides connectivity that reaches various important points, allowing people to move between regions more efficiently without having to change modes of transport repeatedly. Access to Adi Soemarmo Airport has also become easier as it is directly connected to the surrounding areas.

Based on publications by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in the first quarter of 2026, economic activity in Central Java and East Java continued to grow, with the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Central Java recorded growing by around 4.9% (yoy) and East Java by around 5.0% (yoy). This growth goes hand in hand with the increase in interregional public mobility, including in the Solo and Madiun areas, which drives the demand for public transportation that is more reliable in terms of timing and affordable in terms of cost.

With fares ranging from Rp7,000 to Rp40,000, KA BIAS reaches various levels of society. Departure schedules starting early in the morning, specifically at 05.40 WIB from Madiun and 06.00 WIB from Solo, provide flexibility for customers to plan their activities from the start of the day, whether heading to the airport or for various other needs.

"KA BIAS exists to maintain interregional connectivity within a continuously developing region. Every journey brings ease of access, strengthens public activities, and keeps economic movement going," Anne concluded.
