Safe and Comfortable Weekend Travel, KAI Reminds Passengers to Keep Their Belongings Secure
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) encourages passengers to pay closer attention to their belongings during weekend travel. Amid increasingly diverse travel activities, ensuring that personal belongings remain secure is an important part of a comfortable journey.
During the January–March 2026 period, KAI secured 6,047 lost items with an estimated total value of Rp4,437,942,000. Of these, 1,450 were valuable items, including mobile phones, tablets, and jewelry.
During the 2026 Eid Transportation period from 13 March to 30 March 2026, KAI also secured 1,884 lost items with an estimated value of approximately Rp1,307,758,000, of which 424 were classified as valuable items.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that these figures highlight the importance of safeguarding personal belongings throughout every journey.
"We committed to ensure that weekend travel remains safe and comfortable. We encourage passengers to double-check their belongings when boarding, during the journey, and before disembarking from the train," said Anne.
She added that every item left behind is immediately handled by KAI personnel in accordance with established procedures. Items that are found are secured, recorded, and traced so they can be returned to their rightful owners.
"Our staff carry out their responsibilities with the utmost dedication. We uphold our customers' trust through every stage of our wholehearted service," she continued.
KAI also continues to equip its personnel, including security officers and customer service staff, through regular training programs. These programs cover the handling of lost property, customer service, and strengthening integrity values.
Through its Lost and Found service, passengers who have lost personal belongings can immediately report the incident to Customer Service officers or Railway Security Officers (Polsuska) at the station, or contact the KAI Call Center 121. KAI personnel will assist in recording the report, tracing the item to the destination station if necessary, and securely storing it until it can be collected by the owner upon presentation of valid identification and a travel ticket.
"By looking out for one another, we can help ensure that every journey remains comfortable and that personal belongings stay safe," Anne concluded.
