
Thank You to More Than 5 Million Passengers: KAI’s 2026 Eid Transportation Services Run Safely, Comfortably, and On Time
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) expresses its appreciation to all customers who placed their trust in train services for their homecoming and return travel during Eid 2026. Throughout the period from March 11 to April 1, 2026, KAI served 5,087,458 Long-Distance and Local Train passengers managed by KAI, representing an 8.07% increase compared to 4,707,628 passengers during the 2025 Eid period.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that high public mobility during this year's Eid was served effectively through operational readiness, capacity management, and coordination across all service lines.
In detail, Long-Distance Train services recorded 4,246,274 passengers, achieving an occupancy rate of 118.9% out of a capacity of 3,571,760 seats. Meanwhile, Local Trains served 841,184 passengers with an occupancy rate of 90.7% out of 926,936 available seats.
Compared to the 2025 Eid period, the number of Long-Distance Train passengers increased by approximately 8.45% from 3,915,546 passengers. For Local Trains, customer volume rose by approximately 6.20% from 792,082 passengers.
Passenger movement showed steady growth across various operational regions, with the highest growth occurring in Operational Region (Daop) 5 Purwokerto, which served 460,933 passengers—an increase of approximately 11.7% compared to 412,819 passengers in Eid 2025. Next, Daop 4 Semarang recorded 589,313 passengers, growing by approximately 10.0% from 535,709 passengers. Meanwhile, Daop 6 Yogyakarta served 581,418 passengers, an increase of about 8.5% compared to 535,790 passengers in the previous period.
Operational performance during the 2026 Eid Transport period was also reflected in high punctuality achievements. KAI recorded an departure punctuality rate of 99.80% and an arrival punctuality rate of 98.86%, demonstrating consistent service quality throughout the Eid transport window.
To meet additional capacity demands, KAI introduced the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan trainset for the Additional Train on the Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen (vv) route. This service recorded 10,394 passengers on the Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen route with an occupancy rate of 127%, as well as 10,233 passengers on the return route with an occupancy rate of 125%.
KAI also supported the Free Motorcycle Homecoming (Mudik Motor Gratis) program organized by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation by serving 48,740 travelers, as part of efforts to enhance public travel safety.
During the 2026 Eid Transport period, the top 10 customer-favorite Long-Distance Trains were:

2. KA Airlangga (Pasarsenen–Surabaya Pasar Turi): 44,159 passengers
3. KA Airlangga (Surabaya Pasar Turi–Pasarsenen): 44,022 passengers
4. KA Joglosemarkerto (Solo Balapan–Solo Balapan): 40,519 passengers
5. KA Jayakarta (Surabaya Gubeng–Pasarsenen): 35,796 passengers
6. KA Sri Tanjung (Lempuyangan–Ketapang): 34,540 passengers
7. KA Kertajaya (Pasarsenen–Surabaya Pasar Turi): 33,641 passengers
8. KA Sri Tanjung (Ketapang–Lempuyangan): 33,501 passengers
9. KA Jayakarta (Pasarsenen–Surabaya Gubeng): 33,435 passengers
10. KA Ambarawa Ekspres (Semarang Poncol–Surabaya Pasar Turi): 31,173 passengers
