PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) records that the return flow of the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period continues at a high volume heading into this weekend. Operational data shows that on March 29, 2026, KAI served 229,201 Long-Distance Train passengers, achieving an occupancy rate of 140.2 percent.

Meanwhile, for today as of March 30, 2026, at 10:00 WIB, ticket sales for Long-Distance Trains reached 159,601 tickets, or 97.7 percent of daily capacity. This number has the potential to increase further as ticket sales continue into the evening.

Cumulatively, ticket sales for the Eid Transport period through March 30, 2026, at 10:00 WIB reached 4,898,764 tickets out of the total 4,498,696 seat capacity, representing 108.9 percent.

In detail, Long-Distance Train services recorded 4,114,199 passengers, or 115.2 percent of the 3,571,760 seat capacity. Meanwhile, Local Trains served 784,565 passengers, or 84.6 percent of the 926,936 available seats.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, noted that travel dynamics during this year's Eid reflect a more evenly distributed mobility pattern since the start of the period.

"Since mid-March, passenger volumes have steadily climbed and remained high throughout the return flow phase. Trains remain the top choice due to schedule certainty and travel comfort," said Anne.

Throughout the period from March 11 to March 29, 2026, KAI served 4,493,485 passengers, consisting of 3,751,188 Long-Distance Train passengers and 742,297 Local Train passengers. Volume increases occurred gradually, reaching their peak during the return flow phase.

Daily long-distance train passenger volumes showed significant upward trends, particularly during the peak phase from March 22 to March 24, reaching 242,810, 247,025, and 250,650 passengers per day, respectively.

Daily long-distance train passenger volumes and occupancy rates for March 11–29, 2026, were recorded as follows:
• March 11: 101,617 passengers (63.7%)
• March 12: 126,208 passengers (79.2%)
• March 13: 165,675 passengers (101.4%)

• March 26: 221,307 passengers (135.4%)
• March 27: 218,395 passengers (133.6%)
• March 28: 222,101 passengers (135.9%)
• March 29: 229,201 passengers (140.2%)

Anne added that this year's return flow demonstrates a more dispersed travel pattern, with passengers taking advantage of various travel times and route options.

"Passenger departures are spread across multiple days rather than concentrated within a single period. This travel pattern helps maintain a steady return flow while ensuring passenger movements remain well managed throughout the post-Eid travel period," Anne explained.

KAI has ensured operational readiness through train scheduling management, fleet reliability, and service enhancements at both major and intermediate stations. Technological support has also been deployed to accelerate service processes for passengers.

To facilitate smooth boarding, KAI has implemented face recognition facilities across 22 major stations. This service speeds up the identity verification process, reducing queues and enhancing passenger convenience.

Anne expressed appreciation for the public's trust in utilizing train services during the 2026 Eid Transport period.

"We sincerely appreciate the trust our passengers have placed in KAI. The feedback we have received throughout the Eid Transport period will serve as valuable input for evaluating and continuously improving our services in the future," Anne concluded.
