Eid 2026 travel patterns highlight new dynamics in public mobility. Trains are increasingly serving as part of an interconnected journey linking multiple destinations, reflecting growing passenger interest in reaching several cities within a single trip corridor. This trend is particularly evident on the KA Joglosemarkerto loop service, which recorded the highest booking numbers during the period from March 11 to April 1, 2026.

KA 187 on the Solo Balapan–Semarang Tawang route emerged as the most popular service with 44,480 passengers, followed by KA 193 on the Solo Balapan–Solo Balapan loop route with 38,264 passengers. These figures establish Joglosemarkerto as a flagship service in the top Eid 2026 train rankings, underscoring strong regional mobility across Central Java.

This dominance is further reflected in the Top 10 Favorite Eid Trains for 2026, which covers key intercity routes across Java:
1. KA 187 Joglosemarkerto (Solo Balapan – Semarang Tawang): 44,480 passengers
2. KA 272 Airlangga (Pasarsenen – Surabaya Pasar Turi): 42,922 passengers
3. KA 271 Airlangga (Surabaya Pasar Turi – Pasarsenen): 42,784 passengers
4. KA 193 Joglosemarkerto (Solo Balapan – Solo Balapan): 38,264 passengers
5. KA 251B Jayakarta (Surabaya Gubeng – Pasarsenen): 34,648 passengers
6. KA 278 Sri Tanjung (Lempuyangan – Ketapang): 33,604 passengers
7. KA 277 Sri Tanjung (Ketapang – Lempuyangan): 32,711 passengers
8. KA 254B Kertajaya (Pasarsenen – Surabaya Pasar Turi): 31,439 passengers
9. KA 252B Jayakarta (Pasarsenen – Surabaya Gubeng): 30,685 passengers
10. KA 282 Bengawan (Pasarsenen – Purwosari): 30,555 passengers

The list illustrates a powerful combination of cross-province long-distance travel and regional mobility. Joglosemarkerto holds the top two positions, while long-distance services such as Airlangga, Jayakarta, and Kertajaya highlight sustained demand along Java’s main railway corridors.

Passenger movement along the Joglosemarkerto route is also reflected in passenger volumes across the operational regions it traverses. Regional Division (Daop) 4 Semarang recorded 567,079 passengers, Daop 6 Yogyakarta served 559,627 passengers, and Daop 5 Purwokerto reached 441,767 passengers. These figures show high and evenly distributed travel activity throughout the Central Java corridor.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that this pattern indicates a rise in destination-based mobility.

"Joglosemarkerto provides connectivity that opens intercity access while expanding travel options. Passengers can reach more destinations in a single journey," said Anne.

This seamless connectivity has boosted visitor numbers to various destinations across Central Java directly connected by the Joglosemarkerto line.

Top Destinations Along the Joglosemarkerto Route
Purwokerto & Baturraden

Arriving in Purwokerto, travelers are greeted by a complete shift in atmosphere. Cool mountain air from the slopes of Mount Slamet welcomes visitors in Baturraden, featuring green landscapes, waterfalls, and hot springs popular with families. In the city center, the pace of life feels relaxed yet vibrant, with local culinary favorites like warm mendoan and getuk goreng constantly sought after by passengers. This activity helps drive small businesses around stations and tourist areas.

Tegal & Pantura

Entering the northern coastal (Pantura) region, Tegal offers a warm, down-to-earth coastal vibe. Alam Indah Beach is a favorite spot for enjoying sunset views, while the teh poci (claypot tea) tradition provides a distinct local experience. Eateries serving simple yet authentic dishes are crowded with passengers, generating immediate economic turnover for local MSMEs.

Pekalongan & Surrounding Areas

Pekalongan is known as the City of Batik with a strong cultural identity. Batik villages and museums serve as spaces for interaction between visitors and local artisans. Batik fabric sales surge during Eid, accompanied by high demand for local specialties like nasi megono. The presence of passengers in this city expands growth opportunities for artisans and small businesses.

Semarang

Semarang serves as a travel hub blending history with urban living. The Kota Lama (Old Town) district with its colonial architecture, iconic Lawang Sewu, and dynamic Simpang Lima form the center of tourist activity. On the culinary front, local delicacies such as lumpia act as a strong magnet, invigorating small-to-medium enterprises.

Solo

Solo offers a travel experience rich in culture and tradition. The Surakarta Palace (Keraton), Pasar Klewer, and cultural villages remain bustling destinations. On every corner, culinary staples like serabi and tengkleng form an essential part of the journey. These tourism and culinary activities unlock broad economic opportunities for surrounding communities.

Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta stands as a major hub along the Joglosemarkerto line with comprehensive tourist appeal. The Malioboro area stays lively with sightseeing and shopping, while the Keraton and Taman Sari offer authentic cultural experiences. Known as a culinary haven, the city features gudeg, bakpia, and street-side angkringan stalls scattered throughout. High passenger movement directly drives economic activity around stations and tourist destinations, with street vendors, souvenir MSMEs, and local transport operators experiencing increased demand during Eid. Yogyakarta exemplifies how railway connectivity strengthens the link between mobility, tourism, and community economics.

High mobility along this corridor continues to stimulate local economic activity. The arrival of passengers at various stations drives the growth of MSMEs, ranging from food vendors and souvenir shops to last-mile transportation services.

Local products such as mendoan in Purwokerto, teh poci in Tegal, Pekalongan batik, as well as signature dishes from Semarang and Solo naturally experience higher demand throughout the Eid period. This movement reinforces the strong synergy between transport, tourism, and local economies.

Anne added that Joglosemarkerto's connectivity delivers wide-reaching benefits for the public.

"Train travel opens up broader access for public activity while supporting local business owners across various regions," Anne concluded.
