Amid heavy travel mobility during Eid 2026, the introduction of the Ekonomi Kerakyatan class has added a new dynamic to train travel options. Despite launching this year, the service received an immediate high response from the public.

As of March 26, 2026, at 10:00 WIB, ticket sales for the Additional Train (KA Tambahan) on the Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen (round trip) route reached 26,850 tickets for travel between March 11 and April 1, 2026. This figure continues to climb following travel demand during the return flow period.

This enthusiasm is particularly clear in the Ekonomi Kerakyatan class. The Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen route recorded 10,187 seats sold, or 124 percent of the 8,184 seat capacity provided. Meanwhile, the Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan route reached 9,911 seats, or 121 percent of the same capacity. Occupancy exceeding 100 percent occurred due to passengers embarking and disembarking at intermediate stations along the route.

Since its initial operation, the service has carried thousands of passengers. Between March 11 and March 25, 2026, a total of 7,221 passengers used the Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen route, while 6,867 passengers traveled on the Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan route.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the introduction of this service is part of efforts to offer more diverse travel options during the Eid season.

"The Ekonomi Kerakyatan train provides additional capacity with a more comfortable seat arrangement. This service offers a new choice for the public when planning their Eid travel," said Anne.

The Ekonomi Kerakyatan train operates as part of the Additional Train composition on the Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan route, consisting of five executive cars and four *ekonomi kerakyatan* cars. Each train set offers 250 executive-class seats and 372 ekonomi kerakyatan seats.

The service operates twice daily: departing Lempuyangan at 06:00 WIB and arriving at Pasarsenen at 13:56 WIB, and departing Pasarsenen at 15:25 WIB and arriving at Lempuyangan at 22:57 WIB.

In terms of passenger experience, the 3–2 seating configuration with a capacity of 93 seats per car provides a roomier feel. The seats can also be adjusted to face the direction of travel.

Regarding fares, this service is positioned between Economy PSO and regular Economy classes. For the longest end-to-end journey during the Eid Transport period, the fare is set at approximately Rp175,000.

"Amid rising Eid mobility, the arrival of this new service gives the public additional options in planning their trips, while strengthening transport capacity along high-demand corridors," Anne concluded.
