PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to ensure smooth operations during the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period across its various operational regions, including North Sumatra. The homecoming and return flows during this year's holiday period show steady movement, with high travel activity also observed in the Regional Division I (Divre I) North Sumatra area.

President Director of KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, conducted an on-site inspection in the Divre I North Sumatra region on Monday, March 23, 2026. Activities focused on Medan Station, one of the primary transit hubs for passenger mobility in North Sumatra.

Upon arriving at Kualanamu Airport, Bobby continued his journey via the KA Bandara Srilelawangsa airport train to Medan Station while directly inspecting the airport rail service. This check was conducted to verify operational readiness and ensure seamless connectivity between the airport and downtown Medan throughout the Eid Transport period.

From March 11 to March 23, 2026, as of 12:00 WIB, the KA Bandara Srilelawangsa airport train recorded a passenger volume of 150,830 passengers. This total consists of 91,602 passengers on the Binjai line and 59,228 passengers on the Kualanamu line. This achievement demonstrates the critical role of the airport train in supporting public mobility, particularly in connecting the airport to the city center during the holiday season.

At Medan Station, Bobby directly inspected passenger services, arrival and departure flows, and the readiness of station facilities.

Throughout the 2026 Eid Transport period from March 11 to April 1, 2026, Divre I North Sumatra recorded ticket sales reaching 161,712 tickets. The highest daily passenger volume occurred on March 22, 2026, with 11,830 passengers traveling in a single day, highlighting the strong public preference for rail travel in North Sumatra.

Rail services in Divre I North Sumatra are currently served by several routes, including KA Putri Deli, KA Siantar Ekspres, KA Sribilah Fakultatif, KA Sribilah Utama, and KA Datuk Belambangan, which connect various cities and support regional mobility during the Eid period.

Bobby emphasized that management presence on the ground is vital to ensuring that services operate in accordance with established standards.

"Passenger movement during the Eid period in North Sumatra reflects a positive trend. This demonstrates public trust in railway services, which we continue to uphold in quality. KAI remains committed to ensuring every journey is safe, comfortable, and punctual through strengthened operational supervision and on-site staff readiness," said Bobby.

"We ensure that every operational region, including Divre I North Sumatra, maintains optimal readiness to handle passenger surges. Inter-unit coordination continues to be strengthened so that service quality remains consistent and responsive to public needs during the Eid period," he continued.

"Every journey during the holiday season carries stories and expectations. KAI is here to ensure that every passenger can return to their loved ones safely, comfortably, and with complete peace of mind," Bobby concluded.
