Return Flow Begins to Emerge, KAI Encourages Customers to Use KALOG Express to Send Souvenirs
Entering March 22, 2026, train customer movement showed an increasing trend. As of the morning, at least 221,566 Long-Distance Train customers had been scheduled to depart, with temporary occupancy reaching 137.5 percent. This figure could still increase as ticket sales continued until departure.
This condition is an early indication that the Lebaran return flow has begun. On the other hand, some people are also choosing to travel earlier or adjust their travel schedules to avoid congestion on the roads, resulting in a more evenly distributed flow of travel.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that the return flow period is typically associated with customers carrying more items, particularly souvenirs from their hometowns. Therefore, KAI urges customers to pay attention to baggage regulations for everyone's comfort during the journey.
“We understand that customers want to bring various souvenirs for their families. However, to keep the journey comfortable, it is important to pay attention to the applicable baggage regulations. If customers have quite a lot of items, they can use KAI Logistik's delivery service through KALOG Express,” said Anne.
KAI sets a maximum limit for baggage that can be brought into the cabin, with a volume of up to 100 dm³, maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm, and a maximum weight of 20 kg. Under these provisions, suitcases measuring up to 26 inches can still be placed on the baggage racks.
If customers carry items exceeding these limits, excess baggage fees will apply according to the service class, namely Rp10,000 per kg for Executive Class, Rp6,000 per kg for Business Class, and Rp2,000 per kg for Economy Class. Meanwhile, items with dimensions exceeding 200 dm³ are not permitted to be brought into the train cabin.
In such situations, customers are advised to use delivery services such as KALOG Express, which can help send items more practically and safely, without the need to carry them throughout the journey.
In addition, KAI also reminds customers that pets are not permitted to be brought onto trains. This regulation is implemented to maintain the safety and comfort of all customers throughout the journey.
Anne added that by utilizing delivery services, customers can enjoy their return journey more comfortably and freely.
“The return flow marks the moment of returning to our routines. We want our customers' journeys to remain comfortable and enjoyable. With fewer belongings or by sending them ahead, we can make our journey more relaxed,” concluded Anne.
