Ticket sales for PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period continue to rise alongside growing public mobility ahead of Eid. As of March 17, 2026, at 10:00 WIB, total ticket sales reached 3,367,910 tickets, representing 74.9 percent of the 4,498,696 seats provided across Long-Distance and Local Train services for travel between March 11 and April 1, 2026. Approximately 1,130,786 seats remain available for the public during the Eid period.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, explained that public travel trends became evident at the start of the Eid Transport period and continued to escalate in mid-March.

"Demand for rail travel began rising in mid-March. Sales data shows that the public has started traveling for homecoming earlier, particularly on long-distance train services," said Anne.

For Long-Distance Train services, ticket sales reached 3,059,765, or 85.7 percent of the 3,571,760 total seats provided, leaving approximately 511,995 seats open for booking for both homecoming and return journeys.

Meanwhile, for Local Train services managed by KAI, sales reached 308,145 tickets, or 33.2 percent out of the 926,936 total seats available, leaving around 618,791 seats open. Local train ticket sales generally rise closer to departure dates, as most services only open for booking 7 days prior to travel (H-7).

During the first six days of KAI's Eid Transport period (March 11–16, 2026), Long-Distance Train services accommodated 760,229 passengers across various routes in Java and Sumatra.

Daily long-distance train occupancy rates were recorded as follows:
• March 11: 101,617 passengers out of 159,404 seat capacity (63.7%)
• March 12: 126,208 passengers out of 159,404 seat capacity (79.2%)
• March 13: 165,675 passengers out of 163,432 seat capacity (101.4%)
• March 14: 185,873 passengers out of 163,432 seat capacity (113.7%)
• March 15: 180,836 passengers out of 163,432 seat capacity (110.6%)
• March 16: 173,734 passengers out of 163,432 seat capacity (106.3%)

On March 17, 2026, passenger movement is projected to continue rising. As of morning hours, approximately 173,046 Long-Distance Train passengers are scheduled to travel within a single day, yielding a preliminary occupancy rate of 105.9 percent. This figure has potential to grow as ticket sales remain ongoing.

Anne explained that occupancy rates exceeding 100 percent occur due to dynamic travel patterns in train operations.

"On a single long-distance train trip, one seat can be used by more than one passenger across different route segments. This pattern allows the total number of passengers served to exceed the number of available physical seats," Anne clarified.

High-demand train services during the Eid Transport period include KA Airlangga, KA Joglosemarkerto, KA Sri Tanjung, KA Bengawan, KA Kahuripan, and KA Rajabasa.

However, seat availability remains open on select services on specific departure dates, such as KA Parahyangan (Gambir–Bandung) and KA Purwojaya (Gambir–Cilacap).

Anne added that passengers can consider travel alternatives by adjusting departure schedules, selecting different routes, or utilizing connecting train schemes to suit their travel needs.

"With travel capacity still available, KAI encourages the public to plan their Eid journeys early so that homecoming trips run more comfortably, smoothly, and enjoyably by train," Anne concluded.
