Bekasi Station Strengthens Its Role as an Integrated Transportation Hub as Eid Homecoming Mobility Increases

Public mobility during the early phase of the 2026 Eid Transportation period has shown increasing travel activity in the greater Jakarta buffer areas. Travel to various destinations began to rise in mid March as people increasingly chose rail transport as their primary mode for Eid homecoming trips. Amid this growing travel demand, Bekasi Station has strengthened its role as a key transportation hub connecting Commuter Line services with long-distance train operations.

During the first four days of the 2026 Eid Transportation period, Bekasi Station recorded significant Commuter Line passenger activity. A total of 169,536 passengers entered through the station's gates, while 161,244 passengers exited through the station. These figures illustrate the high volume of commuter mobility utilizing the Commuter Line network to access various travel destinations.

This movement is closely linked to the emerging Eid homecoming travel pattern. During the early stage of this year's Eid Transportation period, Commuter Line passenger volume at Bekasi Station was nearly double that of a typical weekend. This indicates that many travelers used the Commuter Line to reach Bekasi Station before continuing their journeys on long-distance trains to their hometowns.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba explained that these mobility trends demonstrate the increasingly important role of Bekasi Station within the rail-based transportation network across Greater Jakarta and surrounding areas.

"Bekasi Station serves as an integrated transportation hub for communities in eastern Greater Jakarta. Passengers use the Commuter Line to reach the station before continuing their journeys on long-distance trains to various Eid homecoming destinations," Anne said.

This role is reflected in the number of long-distance train passengers using Bekasi Station as their departure point. During the 2026 Eid Transportation period from 11 March to 1 April 2026, a total of 103,618 passengers departed or are scheduled to depart from Bekasi Station. During the same period, the station also served as a major arrival point, welcoming 109,852 passengers.

The high level of passenger mobility corresponds with the frequency of train operations passing through the station each day. In daily operations, Bekasi Station serves approximately 278 Commuter Line services and 109 long distance train services. In total, around 387 passenger train services arrive at and depart from the station every day.

This high frequency of train services reinforces Bekasi Station's position as a major supporting station for Gambir Station and Pasarsenen Station, particularly for passengers traveling from Bekasi, Cikarang, Karawang, and eastern Greater Jakarta. The presence of multiple railway services within a single transportation hub enables passengers to transfer easily between different rail services within an integrated transportation network.

Through this integrated service network, the public has greater flexibility in planning their journeys during the Eid Transportation period. The seamless connection between Commuter Line services and long-distance trains allows passengers to choose departure points closer to their homes while supporting smoother Eid homecoming travel across Greater Jakarta and surrounding regions.

"KAI continues to strengthen connectivity between railway services to ensure smoother and better planned journeys for our customers. This integration provides greater convenience for the public in utilizing public transportation during the Eid Transportation period," Anne concluded.
