PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) held the Troop Deployment Roll Call for the 2026 Eid Transport Operation at the Gambir Station Courtyard, Jakarta, on Friday (March 13). The event formed a crucial part of operational readiness in handling increased public mobility during the homecoming (mudik) and return travel periods.

The roll call was conducted as an operational consolidation step and cross-stakeholder coordination effort to manage the surge in public movement during the Eid period. Deputy Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Suntana, served as the master of ceremonies. The event was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Transportation, representatives from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the Board of Directors and management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), alongside operational personnel assigned to duty throughout the Eid transport period.

In his mandate, Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana stated that the Troop Deployment Roll Call represents a pivotal momentum to ensure the total readiness of all transport providers in facing peak public mobility during the Eid homecoming period. This initiative reflects the state's commitment to delivering safe and comfortable journeys for people returning to their hometowns while preserving public trust in rail transport as a primary travel option.

"I emphasize that safety is non-negotiable. All infrastructure and rolling stock must be ensured in reliable condition through detailed inspections, while the security of tracks, stations, and level crossings demands special attention. All personnel must remain alert to deliver responsive and humanized service so that public journeys during Eid Transport run safely, orderly, and smoothly," said Suntana.

President Director of KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that the 2026 Eid Transport period spans 22 days, from March 11 to April 1, 2026. To ensure optimal operational control, KAI is also operating an Eid Transport Command Post for 18 days, from March 13 to March 30, 2026.

During the transport period, KAI Group's passenger transport capacity is set to reach 61,808,188 customers, representing an increase of approximately 5.4 percent compared to the previous year, with a total frequency of 49,866 train trips. For intercity long-distance train services, KAI provides approximately 4.5 million seats, which operationally can accommodate up to 5 million passengers. This capacity is supported by the addition of 62 intercity train trips per day throughout the Eid transport period.

KAI is also supporting various government programs during the 2026 Eid Transport, including a rail transport stimulus offering fare discounts of up to 30 percent for more than 1.28 million commercial economy seats between March 14 and March 29, 2026, backed by a government stimulus allocation of Rp116.15 billion. Additionally, KAI is participating in the Mudik Asyik Bersama BUMN program and the Free Motorcycle Transport program organized by the Directorate General of Railways, preparing 56,392 seats for homecoming travelers.

To ensure seamless operations, KAI conducted joint ramp checks on rolling stock and infrastructure alongside the Directorate General of Railways and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). These inspections encompassed rolling stock readiness, track conditions, operational safety systems, and Minimum Service Standards across stations and trains.

Furthermore, KAI established an Integrated Eid Transport Post and deployed 3,028 additional personnel spread across service points, security posts, cleanliness maintenance, and level crossing monitoring.

On the digital front, KAI upgraded its Rail Ticketing System via infrastructure migration on January 21, 2026. The system is engineered to manage high transaction volumes during the Eid ticket sales period, handling queue capacities of up to 25,000 transactions per minute to ensure a more stable booking process.

For this year's Eid period, KAI also introduced a service innovation via the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People's Economy Class Train), featuring a 3–2 seating configuration designed to enhance passenger comfort at affordable rates. For the longest route during the Eid period (Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan), Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan tickets start from Rp175,000.

KAI continues to enhance journey safety, particularly at over 3,700 level crossings across its operational territories. From 2025 through February 2026, KAI and key stakeholders closed or narrowed 361 level crossings to reduce potential accidents and maintain uninterrupted train operations.

As of March 13, 2026, at 07:00 WIB, Eid Transport ticket sales across intercity and local train services managed by KAI reached 2,822,637 tickets, with figures expected to rise continuously heading into the peak homecoming flow.

Closing the event, Bobby reaffirmed that Eid Transport readiness is the result of collective efforts across all railway personnel and support from various stakeholders.

"Eid Transport represents a moment of national mobility with exceptionally high travel volumes. All our preparations are directed toward enabling the public to travel safely, comfortably, and on time. Support from all parties and public discipline especially when traversing level crossings serve as essential factors in safeguarding train operations throughout the Eid Transport period," Bobby concluded.
