PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that ticket sales for the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period covering departures from March 11 to April 1, 2026, continue to show an increase. As of March 9, 2026, at 09:00 WIB, tickets sold reached 2,398,441 out of 4,498,696 total seats provided.

With this achievement, the temporary occupancy rate reached 53.3 percent, meaning approximately 2.1 million tickets remain available for the public to plan their homecoming (mudik) and return journeys using train services.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the public still has ample opportunities to secure train tickets during this year's Eid Transport period.

"Ticket availability remains widely open across various routes. We encourage the public to plan their homecoming trips promptly and make use of the various schedule options and promotions available to ensure a comfortable and smooth journey," said Anne.

Based on preliminary data, the peak of the homecoming flow is predicted to occur on H-3 prior to Eid, with passenger volume reaching 141,946 customers.

In detail, Long-Distance Train sales reached 2,318,050 tickets out of a capacity of 3,571,760 seats, representing an occupancy rate of 64.9 percent. Meanwhile, Local Trains recorded 80,391 tickets sold out of a capacity of 926,936 seats, or 8.7 percent. Local Train occupancy is projected to increase continuously, as local train ticket bookings open starting 7 days prior to departure (H-7).

Favorite destination stations for the public during the 2026 Eid Transport period include Yogyakarta, Surabaya Pasar Turi, Purwokerto, Semarang Tawang, Bandung, and Surabaya Gubeng stations.

KAI also reminds the public to take advantage of the 30 percent tariff discount program available for select train journeys.

"This discount program is part of KAI's efforts to provide convenience for the public in planning their homecoming journeys using a safe, comfortable, and punctual mode of transportation," Anne said.

In addition, the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People's Economy Class Train) continues to be a primary choice among travelers, reaching an average occupancy rate of 75 percent. To date, ticket sales for the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan have reached 20,444 tickets out of a total capacity of 27,368 seats, and are expected to rise continuously approaching the peak homecoming flow.

"KAI remains committed to delivering safe, secure, comfortable, and punctual transportation services during the Eid Transport period. We invite the public to plan their journeys promptly and make use of the remaining ticket availability," Anne concluded.
