Eid 2026 Train Tickets 49.4% Sold, 2.27 Million Tickets Still Available
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that ticket sales for the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period covering departures from March 11 to April 1, 2026, continue to show an increase. As of March 6, 2026, at 09:00 WIB, tickets sold reached 2,221,890 out of 4,498,696 total seats provided.
With this achievement, the temporary occupancy rate reached 49.4 percent. This means approximately 2.27 million seats remain available for the public to plan their homecoming (mudik) and return journeys using train services.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the public still has ample opportunities to secure train tickets during this year's Eid Transport period.
"KAI encourages the public to plan their trips well and make use of the remaining seat availability. In addition, travelers can choose to return home earlier or utilize connecting train options as a travel alternative to ensure a comfortable and smooth journey," said Anne.
In detail, Long-Distance Train sales reached 2,163,441 tickets out of a total capacity of 3,571,760 seats, representing an occupancy rate of 60.6 percent. Meanwhile, Local Trains recorded 58,449 tickets sold out of a capacity of 926,936 seats, or 6.3 percent. Local Train occupancy is projected to increase continuously closer to travel dates, as local train ticket bookings open starting 7 days prior to departure (H-7).

- Gambir – Semarang Tawang (Round Trip)
- Pasarsenen – Lempuyangan (Round Trip)
- Surabaya Pasar Turi – Pasarsenen
- Pasarsenen – Kutoarjo
- Gambir – Cirebon
- Gambir – Purwokerto
Public Utilizes 30% Government Transport Discount
KAI also recorded strong public interest in the government stimulus providing a 30 percent discount on train fares. This program provides a total of 1,285,056 seats, with realized sales reaching 685,395 tickets, or 53.34 percent.
Consequently, approximately 599,661 discounted tickets remain available for the public to use for travel during the 2026 Eid Transport period.
"We appreciate the government's policy of offering a 30 percent train transportation discount stimulus. This program significantly assists the public in planning their homecoming journeys using a safe, comfortable, and punctual mode of transportation," Anne added.
Furthermore, the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People's Economy Class Train) continues to be a popular choice among travelers, reaching an average occupancy rate of 69 percent. This figure is projected to rise continuously approaching the peak homecoming period.
Based on preliminary data, ticket sales for the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan reached 18,759 tickets out of a total capacity of 27,368 seats.
