PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that ticket sales for the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period covering departures from March 11 to April 1, 2026, continue to show a positive trend. Several favorite routes from Jakarta toward Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Yogyakarta experienced an increase in bookings. Meanwhile, trips from Central Java and East Java heading toward Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) during the same period still have ample seat availability.

As of February 27, 2026, at 07:00 WIB, a total of 1,870,548 tickets have been sold out of 4,105,323 total seats provided. This means approximately 2.23 million seats remain available across various departure dates.

For Long-Distance Trains, sales reached 1,837,553 tickets out of 3,493,723 seats, representing an occupancy rate of 52.60 percent. The average occupancy rate for one-way journeys has reached over half of total capacity, while reverse directions on several routes still offer a wide choice of open schedules.

Meanwhile, KAI Local Trains recorded 32,995 tickets sold out of 611,600 total seats, with an occupancy rate of 5.39 percent. The majority of Local Train tickets can only be booked starting 7 days prior to departure (H-7), so sales figures are expected to rise continuously closer to travel dates.

Dates with relatively lower occupancy rates for Long-Distance Trains include:

  1. April 1, 2026: 17,540 tickets sold out of 158,572 seats (11.06 percent)
  2. March 31, 2026: 28,799 tickets sold out of 159,205 seats (18.09 percent)
  3. March 11, 2026: 31,301 tickets sold out of 159,164 seats (18.71 percent)
  4. March 30, 2026: 46,420 tickets sold out of 159,208 seats (29.16 percent)
  5. March 12, 2026: 51,923 tickets sold out of 158,962 seats (32.66 percent)

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, explained that Eid homecoming travel patterns generally move from Jakarta and western regions toward Central Java and East Java. During the same period, the reverse flow from those areas heading to Greater Jakarta offers more flexible schedule choices.

"The Eid holiday period can be utilized by the public to plan trips early. For university students and workers from Greater Jakarta currently residing in Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, or Surabaya, ticket availability for return journeys remains widely open," said Anne.

Anne added that passengers can consider dates with lower occupancy rates or utilize connecting train schemes to secure route and schedule combinations that best suit their needs.

KAI continues to monitor ticket sales dynamics and ensure operational readiness so that the 2026 Eid Transport runs safely, orderly, and smoothly, providing optimal mobility space for the public.
