PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded high public interest in the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan (People's Economy Class Train) service during the 2026 Eid (Lebaran) Transport period. Since tickets went on sale on February 25, 2026, for departure dates between March 11 and April 1, 2026, this service has become a favored option for affordable travel.

As of the update on March 2, 2026, at 09:00 WIB, a total of 15,976 Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan tickets have been booked out of a total capacity of 27,368 seats, reaching an occupancy rate of 58 percent in just six days of sales. On several return flow dates, the occupancy rate even exceeded 100 percent per trip date due to intermediate boarding and alighting passenger patterns along the route.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan was introduced to expand access to Eid travel for the public.

"This service has become a popular alternative, especially for passengers prioritizing cost efficiency and schedule certainty. We have seen a very positive response since sales opened," said Anne.

Overall, sales for the 2026 Eid Transport as of March 2, 2026, reached 2,013,992 tickets out of 4,498,696 total seats provided, representing an occupancy rate of 44.8 percent. This means approximately 2.48 million seats remain available for the public.

Specifically for Long-Distance Trains, the occupancy rate reached 55.2 percent, while Local Train sales are projected to continue moving upward following the typical booking pattern starting 7 days prior to departure (H-7).

KAI observed that this year's Eid travel patterns show a gradual increase in the pre-Eid period and are projected to strengthen during the return flow. Several post-Eid dates still have relatively low occupancy rates, giving passengers flexibility when selecting travel dates.

With substantial remaining capacity, KAI encourages the public to plan trips early and consider alternative routes or connecting train schemes to secure schedules that suit their needs.

KAI continues to ensure operational readiness across fleet, infrastructure, and customer services to guarantee the 2026 Eid Transport runs safely, orderly, and smoothly, while delivering inclusive and affordable transportation services for all levels of society.
