PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reported that ticket sales for the 2026 Eid Transportation period, covering departures from 11 March to 1 April 2026, continue to show positive growth. Several popular routes from Jakarta to Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Yogyakarta have recorded increasing bookings. Meanwhile, travel from Central Java and East Java to the Greater Jakarta area during the Eid holiday period still has ample seat availability.

As of 26 February 2026 at 07:00 WIB, a total of 1,826,091 tickets had been sold out of the 4,103,805 seats available. This means that approximately 2.27 million seats remain available for passengers planning their journeys.

For Long-Distance Trains, 1,796,216 tickets have been sold out of a total capacity of 3,492,205 seats, representing an occupancy rate of 51.44 percent. On average, trains in one direction have reached approximately half of their capacity, while the opposite direction on several routes still offers substantial seat availability.

Meanwhile, KAI Local Trains have sold 29,875 tickets out of 611,600 available seats, representing an occupancy rate of 4.88 percent. Most of the 611,600 Local Train seats can only be booked starting seven days before departure, meaning ticket sales will continue to increase as the travel dates approach.

The following departure dates currently have relatively low occupancy rates for Long-Distance Trains:

  1.  1 April 2026: 16,825 tickets sold out of 157,316 seats (10.70%)
  2. 31 March 2026: 27,961 tickets sold out of 159,190 seats (17.56%)
  3. 11 March 2026: 29,774 tickets sold out of 159,152 seats (18.71%)
  4. 30 March 2026: 45,535 tickets sold out of 159,196 seats (28.60%)
  5. 12 March 2026: 50,528 tickets sold out of 158,950 seats (31.79%)

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba explained that Eid travel demand generally increases from Jakarta and western Indonesia toward Central Java and East Java. During the same period, trains traveling in the opposite direction still have relatively lower occupancy levels.

"The Eid holiday provides an opportunity for people to plan their journeys in advance. For students and workers from the Greater Jakarta area who are currently in Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, or Surabaya, return travel options remain widely available with lower occupancy levels," Anne said.

Anne added that passengers can choose departure dates with lower occupancy rates or take advantage of connecting train services to find route and departure time combinations that best suit their travel needs.

KAI continues to monitor ticket sales trends while ensuring operational readiness so that the 2026 Eid Transportation period can run safely, smoothly, and efficiently, while providing optimal travel capacity for the public.
