Increasingly Popular, KA Singasari Records Passenger Growth in January 2026
The beginning of 2026 marked a sweet milestone for the Singasari Train. Throughout January 2026, the Singasari Train served 38,197 passengers, an increase compared to January 2025, which served 37,016 passengers. This trend indicates that cross-Java journeys aboard the Singasari Train are becoming increasingly popular among the public.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the Singasari Train is the top choice for passengers traveling from Blitar to Jakarta and vice versa.
"The Singasari Train offers a complete travel experience. Within a single journey, passengers can traverse the northern, central, and southern corridors of Java Island. Every station holds its own story and unique attraction," said Anne.
The Singasari Train serves the Blitar–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Blitar routes, covering a distance of approximately 880 kilometers. This long-distance journey feels special as it connects diverse landscapes and attractive destinations.
Departing from Jakarta, the journey begins at Pasar Senen before moving through Bekasi, Cikarang, and Karawang, which are known as modern industrial areas. Upon entering Cikampek, Subang, and Haurgeulis, the atmosphere transforms into sprawling rice fields and the calmer air characteristic of Indramayu.
Stopping at Jatibarang and Cirebon, passengers encounter coastal cities rich in culture and culinary heritage, such as empal gentong, alongside historical palace areas. The train then proceeds toward Bumiayu, a cool-climate area at the foot of the hills that serves as the gateway to the natural scenery of southern Brebes.
Purwokerto and Kroya offer access to Baturraden and the natural tourism areas of Banyumas. Gombong and Kebumen are recognized for the Karangsambung Geopark and a breathtaking stretch of southern beaches. Meanwhile, Kutoarjo and Wates serve as entry points to the charm of Kulon Progo and the Menoreh hills.
As the train enters Yogyakarta through Lempuyangan and Klaten, the essence of Javanese culture becomes prominent with a variety of historical sites and legendary culinary offerings. The journey continues toward Purwosari, Sragen, and Ngawi, displaying rice field landscapes and the winding Bengawan Solo River.
Madiun and Caruban are renowned for their signature local dishes, while Nganjuk and Kertosono serve as key junctions on East Java's rail network. Kediri and Tulungagung present a dynamic blend of urban centers, industrial hubs, and natural attractions. Finally, the journey reaches its terminus in Blitar, the City of the Proclaimer, known for Bung Karno's Grave and exotic beaches along the southern coast.
The name Singasari is derived from the 13th-century Singasari Kingdom in East Java. That legacy of past glory is now reflected in a modern travel experience that connects various cities comfortably.
The Singasari Train provides Executive and Premium Economy classes. Passengers can enjoy comfortable seating, central air conditioning, power outlets, and spacious legroom suited for long-distance travel. With a total capacity of up to 1,670 passengers, the Singasari Train stands as one of the backbones of cross-Java travel.
"For members of the public planning weekend trips or looking to explore city after city along a single continuous route, the Singasari Train delivers a memorable experience. Tickets can be booked via the Access by KAI app and other official channels," Anne concluded.
