The Post-Holiday Travel Rush is Expected Today, With Over 172,285 Passengers Travelling By Train
The Chinese New Year 2026 long holiday was celebrated with great enthusiasm. During the four-day transport period, February 13–16, 2026, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) served 813,141 passengers across various routes.
Entering the final day of the long holiday period, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the return flow was expected to peak with more than 172,285 passengers.
As of February 17, 2026, at 10:00 WIB, a total of 985,426 tickets for departures between February 13–17, 2026, were sold from a total capacity of 825,086 seats provided. This number is expected to increase further as ticket sales continue up until departure times.
The average daily occupancy rate during the four-day long holiday remained above 100 percent. Even on this return flow day, sales figures exceeded available seat capacity. This condition was influenced by dynamic travel patterns, where passengers boarded and disembarked at intermediate stations, allowing a single seat to be utilized by more than one passenger in a single journey.
