Plan Your 2026 Eid Homecoming Trip Early, 793,681 Regular Train Tickets Sold
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded continued positive public interest in train travel during the 2026 Eid Transportation period. Through the H-45 phased ticket sales scheme, as of February 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. WIB, a total of 793,681 regular train tickets had been booked for departure periods from March 11–26, 2026.
The implementation of phased ticket sales gives the public an opportunity to plan their Eid homecoming and holiday trips earlier. Customers have a wider range of travel dates to choose from, while also supporting passenger flow management so that it is distributed more evenly throughout the homecoming and return travel period.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that ticket sales are still ongoing and will continue to increase as bookings are opened according to the H-45 scheme.
“Through this arrangement, customers can adjust their travel times more flexibly, while also helping distribute the homecoming flow so that it is not concentrated on certain dates,” said Anne.
Based on the current booking data, the departure date with the highest volume is March 24, 2026, with 67,859 tickets, followed by March 23 with 67,043 tickets, March 19, 2026 with 65,513 tickets, and March 18, 2026 with 63,300 tickets.

Along with increasing public interest, KAI is also preparing operational measures to support the smooth implementation of the 2026 Eid Transportation period. Plans to operate additional trains are currently being finalized and will be announced according to operational readiness. Inspections of railway facilities, from locomotives to trainsets, are conducted regularly to ensure optimal services throughout the homecoming and return travel period.
In terms of service, KAI’s ticketing system is operated transparently and under control. Every ticket must use the passenger’s original identity, with one identity permitted for one name. The boarding process is supported by the use of face recognition technology and transaction limits per booking code to ensure that tickets are used by eligible customers.
KAI also implements special arrangements for group ticket bookings. Group ticket allocations are limited to a maximum of 10 percent of the total available seating capacity, with top priority given to free homecoming programs organized by the Government and various institutions.
“We work to ensure that the Eid homecoming journey takes place in an orderly, safe, and comfortable manner. By planning early, people can enjoy their 2026 Eid journey by train with greater peace of mind,” concluded Anne.
