655,407 Regular Train Tickets for Eid 2026 Sold, KAI Encourages Public to Plan Holidays Early
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded positive growth in regular train ticket sales for the 2026 Eid Transportation period, in line with the implementation of the H-45 phased ticket sales scheme. As of February 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. WIB, a total of 655,407 tickets had been booked for departures from March 11–24, 2026.
This phased ticket sales pattern provides the public with an opportunity to plan their homecoming and Eid holiday trips earlier, with a wider selection of departure dates while also supporting a more balanced distribution of passenger flows across different travel periods.
Vice President Corporate Communication of KAI Anne Purba stated that ticket bookings are currently open through March 24, 2026, in accordance with the H-45 scheme, and sales are expected to continue increasing as the booking period remains ongoing.
“This scheme provides customers with greater flexibility in determining their travel schedules while also helping distribute the homecoming passenger flow more evenly,” said Anne.
Based on preliminary data, H-3 and H-2 of Eid remain the departure dates with the highest booking levels. On H-3 of Eid (March 18, 2026), 61,023 tickets had been sold, while H-2 of Eid (March 19, 2026) reached 63,456 tickets. For H-1 of Eid (March 20, 2026), the number of tickets booked also stood at 63,456 tickets.
Meanwhile, on H1 of Eid (March 21, 2026), 46,515 tickets had been sold. On H2 of Eid (March 22, 2026), 55,425 tickets had been booked, followed by 59,878 tickets for March 23, 2026, and 56,464 tickets for March 24, 2026. KAI noted that tickets are still available on several dates outside the peak period and can be utilized as alternative travel options.

Anne added that KAI continues to prepare operational measures to support the smooth implementation of the Eid Transportation period, including plans to operate additional trains, which will be announced once the finalization process is complete. Comprehensive inspections of railway facilities, from locomotives to trainsets, are also being carried out to ensure that all services remain in optimal condition throughout the homecoming and return travel periods.
From the service perspective, KAI's ticketing system applies a transparent and controlled booking mechanism. Every ticket must use the passenger's valid identity, with one identity assigned to one passenger name. The boarding process is supported by face recognition technology, along with transaction limits per booking code, to ensure that tickets are used by the rightful customers.
KAI also applies specific provisions for group ticket bookings to ensure equitable access for the public. Group ticket allocations are limited to a maximum of 10 percent of the total available seat capacity, with priority given to free homecoming programs organized by the Government and various institutions.
“KAI is committed to providing an orderly, safe, and comfortable homecoming service. With early planning, the 2026 Eid holiday journey by train can be enjoyed with greater peace of mind,” Anne concluded.
