KAI Eid Transportation: Integrated Stations Make It Easier for Travelers to Take the Train

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to strengthen its 2026 Eid Transportation strategy by enhancing intermodal integration to ensure smooth public mobility amid increased movement during the Eid holiday. Railways serve as the backbone of mass transportation, directly connected with various connecting modes, allowing people's journeys to take place more efficiently, comfortably, and with passenger flows distributed more evenly.

Strengthening intermodal integration is an important part of managing national travel flows during the Eid holiday period, which is characterized by increased movement of people across regions. Railway connectivity with connecting modes such as urban trains, bus services, and onward transportation in urban areas supports end-to-end journeys for customers from their departure points to their final destinations.

Integration of Intermodal Transportation in Jabodetabek and Urban Hubs

In the Jabodetabek area, KAI provides convenient access through stations that are directly integrated with KRL Commuter Line services, meaning that people do not always have to begin their journeys from the main stations in the city center. Stations such as Bekasi Station, Cikarang Station, and Jatinegara Station allow travelers to take long-distance trains after first using KRL services from surrounding areas. This scheme helps reduce congestion at central stations while expanding the choice of departure points.

Meanwhile, Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station continue to serve as major hubs for long-distance trains, integrated with TransJakarta services, connecting transportation, as well as taxi and rental vehicle access. This integration makes it easier for passengers to continue their journeys to various areas in Jakarta and its surroundings without significant obstacles.

In the city center corridor, intermodal integration is also strengthened through the connectivity of Manggarai Station, BNI City Station, and the Dukuh Atas area as a multimodal hub. This area connects KRL services, airport trains, LRT Jabodebek, TransJakarta, and other connecting modes, enabling passenger movement between services to take place more efficiently and systematically.

Similar integration is also being strengthened in various other areas across Java. In Bandung, major stations are connected with urban transportation and road-based transportation serving the Bandung Raya area. In Yogyakarta, long-distance and local railway connectivity is integrated with KRL Yogyakarta–Solo services and urban transportation. Meanwhile, in Surabaya, intermodal integration supports passenger movement to and from the Gerbangkertosusila area.

Through strengthening integration at these various hubs, KAI encourages more efficient end-to-end journeys while supporting a more even distribution of passenger flows during the Eid holiday period.

In line with this strategy, KAI encourages the public to take advantage of travel opportunities during the early dates of the Eid Transportation period. This measure is expected to help distribute passenger flows more evenly while providing customers with a more comfortable travel experience.

As of February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), total bookings for regular train tickets for the period from March 11 to March 23, 2026, had reached 568,307 tickets. Booking concentration remains on dates closer to Eid al-Fitr, while ticket availability remains widely open on the earlier dates.

Booking data shows that on March 11, 2026, only 13,049 tickets had been sold, followed by 29,576 tickets on March 12, 2026, and 34,766 tickets on March 16, 2026. These figures remain below the booking levels on March 18, 2026, which reached 59,773 tickets, and March 19, 2026, with 62,095 tickets.

Anne Purba stated that the integration of stations with connecting modes provides greater flexibility for the public in planning their Eid journeys.

“Travelers now have more choices of departure points and onward travel options. This intermodal integration supports smooth mobility while also improving comfort during the Eid holiday,” said Anne.

The H-45 phased ticket sales scheme, readiness of railway facilities, and transparent ticketing system arrangements continue to be implemented by KAI to ensure that Eid Transportation services operate safely, orderly, and reliably.

KAI encourages the public to purchase tickets through the Access by KAI application, the booking.kai.id website, and other official ticket agent partners to ensure ticket validity and travel convenience.

“With the support of integrated stations and proper travel planning, people can undertake their Eid journeys with greater peace of mind and comfort,” concluded Anne.
