Regular Eid Train Tickets Still Available, KAI Encourages the Public to Plan Their Eid Holiday Early
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) announced that ticket sales for regular trains during the 2026 Eid Transportation period continue to show positive progress following the implementation of the H-45 phased ticket sales scheme. This scheme provides the public with opportunities to plan their homecoming journeys with a wider range of dates and routes.
Through the 2026 Eid Transportation arrangements, KAI is opening ticket sales in stages starting from H-3, H-2, H-1, H1, through H2 of Eid. This pattern is designed to provide flexibility in travel times while supporting more balanced passenger flow management across various departure dates.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba explained that as of February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), total ticket bookings for the period from March 11 to March 22, 2026, had reached 496,967 tickets. Currently, ticket bookings can only be made up to March 22, 2026, in accordance with the H-45 scheme, and this figure is expected to continue increasing as sales are still ongoing.
In detail, on H-3 of Eid, or March 18, 2026, 58,430 tickets had been sold. Ticket sales for H-2 of Eid, or March 19, 2026, reached 60,577 tickets. For H-1 of Eid, or March 20, 2026, 47,490 tickets had been booked. Meanwhile, on H1 of Eid, or March 21, 2026, 41,228 tickets had been sold, and on H2 of Eid, or March 22, 2026, 39,802 tickets had been booked.
Based on these data, H-3 and H-2 of Eid remain the departure dates with the highest booking levels. Nevertheless, KAI recorded that tickets for other dates around the Eid period are still available and can be utilized as alternative travel options for the public.
The implementation of the H-45 sales scheme also enables KAI to manage passenger movements more proportionally. With early planning, customers have a greater opportunity to choose regular train schedules and services according to their respective travel needs.
Anne added that KAI continues to prepare operational measures to support the smooth implementation of Eid Transportation, including plans to operate additional trains, which will be announced after the finalization process. On the other hand, KAI is conducting comprehensive inspections of railway facilities, including locomotives and trainsets, to ensure that all services are in optimal condition when serving customers during the peak homecoming and return travel periods.
To maintain service orderliness, KAI's ticketing system applies a transparent and controlled booking mechanism. Each ticket must use the passenger's original identity, with one identity assigned to one name. The boarding process is also supported by the use of face recognition technology and transaction limits per booking code to ensure that tickets are used by eligible customers.
KAI encourages the public to purchase tickets through official channels, namely the Access by KAI application, the booking.kai.id website, and official Online Travel Agent (OTA) partners cooperating with KAI, to avoid potential fraud and ensure the validity of travel tickets.
In addition, KAI applies specific provisions for group ticket bookings to maintain equitable access for the public. Group ticket allocations are limited to a maximum of 10 percent of the total available seating capacity, with priority given to free homecoming programs organized by the Government and various institutions.
“KAI is committed to continuously improving service quality by prioritizing safety, comfort, and transparency. With the support of all KAI Group personnel, we want to ensure that the 2026 Eid homecoming journey by train runs in an orderly and safe manner while providing a comfortable travel experience for the public,” concluded Anne.
