
Chinese New Year Long Weekend Tickets Still Available, KAI Encourages Customers to Plan Their Journeys Early
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) announced that train tickets for the 2026 Chinese New Year long weekend period are still available and can be utilized by the public to plan their journeys early. Based on the latest monitoring report, public interest continues to grow as the holiday period approaches.
As of the data update on February 4, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), KAI recorded ticket sales for departures from February 13 to February 17, 2026, reaching 256,952 tickets out of a total of 815,868 tickets provided, with an occupancy rate of 31.49 percent. This figure indicates that ticket availability remains ample across various routes and travel dates.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba explained that ticket sales remain relatively evenly distributed across the five-day Chinese New Year long weekend period. On Friday, February 13, 2026, 62,148 tickets were sold, followed by Saturday, February 14, 2026, with 60,021 tickets. Meanwhile, Sunday, February 15, 2026, recorded 39,944 tickets, Monday, February 16, 2026, recorded 35,323 tickets, and Tuesday, February 17, 2026, reached 59,516 tickets.
“These data show that travel interest has begun to take shape, but there are still many schedule and route options that the public can utilize. Planning early provides greater flexibility in choosing departure times and travel routes,” said Anne.
Based on preliminary monitoring, several routes have become customer favorites during the Chinese New Year long weekend period, namely:
- Gambir – Yogyakarta: 5,112 customers
- Yogyakarta – Gambir: 5,037 customers
- Lempuyangan – Pasarsenen: 4,874 customers
- Pasarsenen – Lempuyangan: 4,256 customers
- Gambir – Semarang Tawang: 3,419 customers
- Gambir – Bandung: 2,944 customers
- Semarang Tawang – Gambir: 2,717 customers
- Pasarsenen – Yogyakarta: 2,317 customers
- Medan – Tanjung Balai: 2,302 customers
- Bandung – Gambir: 2,073 customers
Anne added that KAI continues to monitor sales developments regularly to ensure optimal services throughout the long weekend period. The remaining ticket availability provides an opportunity for the public to arrange their holiday agendas more flexibly.
“We encourage customers to plan their journeys early and utilize KAI’s official channels to obtain accurate and secure information. Tickets can be booked through the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, and official sales partners. Customers can also obtain service information through the KAI Contact Center 121,” concluded Anne.
