Welcoming the 2026 Eid Homecoming Season, 382,047 Regular Train Tickets Sold
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) announced that train ticket sales for the 2026 Eid Transportation period are progressing gradually in accordance with the H-45 booking scheme. To date, KAI has opened reservations for regular train services on several departure dates during the homecoming period, including H-3, H-2, and H-1 before Eid.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba explained that the ticket sales reflect the strong public interest in regular train services as the primary mode of transportation for the annual Eid homecoming. As of 3 February 2026 at 10:00 WIB, customer demand during the peak homecoming period showed a significant upward trend.
For departures on H-3 before Eid, or 18 March 2026, a total of 54,387 tickets had been sold. Ticket sales for H-2 before Eid, or 19 March 2026, reached 56,250 tickets, while 39,380 tickets had been sold for H-1 before Eid, or 20 March 2026.
Ticket sales for the 2026 Eid Transportation period are being released gradually following the H-45 policy, allowing bookings to open 45 days before each departure date. This approach gives the public sufficient time to plan their homecoming journeys while helping ensure a more balanced distribution of passenger traffic throughout the holiday travel period.
Anne added that early planning is the key to a more comfortable Eid journey. By following the H-45 ticket release schedule, customers can regularly monitor ticket availability and adjust their preferred travel dates or routes when booking regular train services.
As of 3 February 2026 at 10:00 WIB, cumulative sales of regular train tickets for the Eid homecoming period covering departures from 11 March through 20 March 2026 had reached 382,047 tickets. This figure is expected to continue increasing as ticket sales for subsequent departure dates are opened according to schedule.
Based on preliminary data, the ten most popular destination stations are:
- Purwokerto (18,161 passengers)
- Semarang Tawang (17,705 passengers)
- Yogyakarta (17,366 passengers)
- Kutoarjo (16,277 passengers)
- Surabaya Pasar Turi (14,747 passengers)
- Pasarsenen (12,739 passengers)
- Kebumen (11,304 passengers)
- Tegal (11,232 passengers)
- Lempuyangan (10,823 passengers)
- Solo Balapan (10,578 passengers)
These preferences indicate that customers are traveling to an increasingly diverse range of destinations, including major cities, surrounding regions, and secondary destination cities. The trend also reflects the growing use of connecting train services as part of early homecoming travel planning.
KAI encourages customers who have not yet secured tickets for their preferred dates or routes to continue monitoring future ticket releases under the H-45 scheme and to consider alternative travel dates. Customers can also take advantage of the connecting train feature available in the Access by KAI application to plan more flexible and well-organized journeys.
Anne also reminded the public to purchase tickets only through KAI's official sales channels, including the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, and KAI's authorized ticketing partners.
"We encourage the public to plan their Eid homecoming journeys carefully and to follow the H-45 ticket release schedule. For further information, customers may contact the KAI Contact Center 121," Anne concluded.
