PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) announced that as of Sunday (Jan 18), flooding conditions across several KAI operational areas have intensified, with additional affected locations along tracks, particularly within Regional Division (Daop) 4 Semarang and Regional Division (Daop) 1 Jakarta. These conditions directly impact the smooth operation of train journeys.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, explained that heavy rainfall and standing water on tracks have rendered certain sections unsafe for passage. KAI continues to perform intensive monitoring and comprehensive technical inspections to ensure journey safety.

The safety of train journeys and our passengers remains our utmost priority. As flood points expand and potential delay risks increase, KAI is executing operational pattern adjustments, including route diversions, speed restrictions, and train cancellations to mitigate safety risks," said Anne.

As part of the response efforts, KAI has deployed infrastructure and rolling stock personnel to execute track normalization and embankment reinforcement, while maintaining intensive coordination with relevant stakeholders, including local governments, district authorities, and technical agencies to address flood impacts near railway lines.

Based on the latest operational evaluation, KAI cancelled 38 train journeys on January 18, 2026, due to severe delays and track conditions unsafe for passage.
