PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), throughout 2025, operated Rail Clinic as a mobile healthcare service that travels along the railway lines to reach communities living nearby. Through 19 activities in various regions, Rail Clinic recorded 8,374 community visits, an increase compared to 7,076 visits in 2024 and 5,101 visits in 2023. This increase shows that the presence of rail-based healthcare and educational services is increasingly needed by the community.

Rail Clinic stopped at various locations, including Serang Station, Klari Station, Cikadongdong Station, Manonjaya Station, Arjawinangun Station, Kedungjati Station, Kebasen Station, Pasarnguter Station, Mediska Madiun Clinic, PP Kanzul Ulum Madiun, PP Al Fatah Temboro Magetan, Krian Station, Ledokombo Station, Siantar Station, Bajalingge Station, Simpang Station, Payakabung Station, Kotabumi Station, and Tegineneng Station. Each stop became a meeting point between community needs and the company’s care.

Vice President Corporate Communication of KAI Anne Purba stated that Rail Clinic was designed as a bridge of empathy between KAI and communities living along railway lines.

“Along the railway tracks, there are lives, families, children, and hopes. We bring Rail Clinic so that communities living around railway lines can have access to proper, nearby, and free healthcare and educational services. When the train stops, what we bring is care,” said Anne.

At each location, Rail Clinic provides free healthcare services addressing the basic needs of the community. General medical examinations, dental health services, maternal and child health services, eye examinations, and basic laboratory tests are provided by professional medical personnel. These services are complemented by the provision of medicines and eyeglasses according to needs, education on Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors, tuberculosis education, and efforts to strengthen awareness of railway travel safety.

Several Rail Clinic activities also feature Rail Library, a mobile literacy space with collections of physical books and an e-library. Of the total Rail Clinic visits throughout 2025, 828 visits were recorded during Rail Library activities. Children read books, parents learned about digital literacy, and families took home meaningful learning experiences. On the same occasion, Rail Clinic also distributed supplementary food for pregnant women and schoolchildren as nutritional support for families.

Rail Clinic is designed as a mobile clinic that utilizes the railway network to reach areas that are difficult to access by land vehicles. The train stops at designated stations according to schedule, and residents can come directly to receive services free of charge. This approach makes the railway a link connecting healthcare services, education, and meaningful social interaction.

Through Rail Clinic, KAI reaffirms its role as part of the lives of communities living along railway lines. The increasing number of visits year after year shows that rail-based healthcare and literacy services are having a tangible impact.

“This program is part of KAI’s ongoing commitment to supporting the quality of life of communities, while also presenting the face of public transportation that is caring, warm, and close to people’s daily lives,” concluded Anne.
