Starting today, Saturday (10/1), PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has officially begun operating Executive Stainless Steel New Generation (SSNG) trainsets for the Gajayana Train on the Malang–Gambir (round trip) route. This fleet modernization is part of efforts to enhance long-distance train services, aiming to deliver a more comfortable, safe, and reliable travel experience for passengers.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the operation of the SSNG trainsets was implemented with strict technical readiness and safety standards.

"Starting today, the Gajayana Train utilizes Stainless Steel New Generation trainsets. All rolling stock underwent safety and operational readiness testing before serving passengers," said Anne.

Anne added that the expansion of SSNG trainsets will continue on Sunday (11/1). On that date, the rolling stock upgrade will also apply to the Gajayana Train on the Gambir–Malang route as well as the Parahyangan Train (132–133) on the Gambir–Bandung (round trip) route.

For a single trip, the Gajayana Train consist comprises 8 Executive (K1) SSNG cars, 1 Dining (M1) SSNG car, 1 Second Generation Luxury car, and 1 SSNG Power car. This new trainset features updated interior design, ergonomic seating, passenger information display systems, and enhanced equipment reliability.

Up to November 2025, KAI has received 34 Stainless Steel New Generation trainsets produced by PT INKA in 2025, consisting of passenger cars, dining cars, and power cars. The arrival of this new rolling stock strengthens KAI's service capacity and operational readiness to handle high public mobility, including during the Christmas and New Year holiday periods.

"Modernization of rolling stock is a key element in maintaining service quality. KAI ensures that every operated trainset meets safety and passenger comfort standards," concluded Anne.
