PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), together with all KAI Group entities, recorded positive performance during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year transportation period. From 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, KAI Group served 27,256,397 customers, an increase of 7.6 percent compared with the 2024/2025 Nataru period (19 December 2024–5 January 2025), which served 25,326,114 customers.
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that this achievement reflects the role of railway transportation as a key connector of public mobility amid increasing year-end travel activities. Integrated intercity and multimodal services helped maintain smooth journeys for families, social activities, and economic movements across various regions.
“During the Nataru period, KAI Group strives to ensure that community journeys remain safe, smooth, and comfortable. Trains serve as a connector for various activities, ranging from intercity travel, urban mobility, to connectivity toward airports and tourist destinations,” said Bobby.
In detail, long-distance and local train services managed by KAI served 4,179,095 customers. In the urban transportation segment, KAI Commuter through Commuter Line Jabodetabek, Area II Bandung, Area VI Yogyakarta, and Area VIII Surabaya served 20,611,818 customers, becoming the main support for daily mobility in metropolitan areas.
Intermodal connectivity was reflected through KAI Airport services, including the YIA Airport Train and Srilelawangsa Train, which are directly connected to Kualanamu Airport, serving a total of 411,955 customers during the Nataru period. In urban transportation services, LRT Jabodebek served 1,321,733 customers, while LRT Sumsel served 321,105 customers, strengthening public mobility connectivity in urban areas.
For travel experience-based services, KAI Wisata through panoramic trains and tourist trains served 24,460 customers. The high-speed Whoosh train served 362,979 customers, accelerating Jakarta–Bandung connectivity during the holiday period. In South Sulawesi, the Makassar–Parepare Train served 23,252 customers, demonstrating the role of rail transportation in expanding access and supporting regional tourism mobility.
Bobby emphasized that smooth services during the Nataru period also contributed to tourism and community economic activities. Well-maintained journeys encouraged tourist movement, supported local businesses, and strengthened interregional connectivity as part of the national economic cycle.
In line with the company’s development direction, KAI continues to strengthen its role as an integrated mobility and distribution connector. The integration of passenger services, freight transportation, and technology utilization is directed toward ensuring that travel and logistics movements become more efficient, accessible, and aligned with community needs.
With continuously developing operational experience and increasingly diverse services, KAI focuses on strengthening reliability, efficiency, and service quality. Infrastructure and human resource development are carried out sustainably so that railway services can respond to the dynamics of national mobility and distribution needs.
“For us, service quality is built through consistency and trust. Every smooth, punctual, and safe journey is part of KAI’s efforts to provide a transportation system that is increasingly connected and relevant to community needs,” said Bobby.
Bobby also expressed appreciation to all customers and stakeholders.
“We would like to thank the public for their continued trust in using KAI Group services during the Nataru 2025/2026 period. This trust motivates us to continuously improve service quality and provide public transportation that delivers broad benefits for Indonesia,” concluded Bobby.
