6 KRL iE305 Trainsets Return to Service, KAI and INKA Complete Maintenance of One Final Trainset
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), together with PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA, continues to complete the maintenance of 7 iE305/CLI-225 KRL trainsets. As of early October 2026, 6 trainsets have returned to service, while maintenance of the remaining 1 trainset is still underway.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said that the accelerated maintenance process is being carried out to maintain the readiness of Commuter Line Jabodetabek rolling stock in serving the mobility needs of the community.
“Of the seven trainsets undergoing maintenance, six have returned to service, while one trainset is still undergoing the final stages of maintenance. KAI and INKA continue to coordinate to ensure that all trainsets can soon return to supporting services for the community, while ensuring that every stage of inspection meets safety and reliability standards,” said Anne.
The iE305/CLI-225 KRL trainsets manufactured by INKA are SF12 formations, consisting of 12 cars in each trainset. The readiness of trainsets with this capacity is important in supporting Commuter Line Jabodetabek services on routes with high customer volumes.
Currently, these trainsets also support the operation of the Commuter Line Bogor Line, one of the lines with the highest customer mobility in Jabodetabek. From January to August 2026, the Bogor Line served 105,704,913 customers, or an average of around 435,000 customers per day.
“The readiness of SF12 trainsets is very important to maintain service capacity on routes with high community mobility. Therefore, maintenance continues to be accelerated while keeping safety as the primary standard before the trainsets return to service,” said Anne.
The maintenance process is carried out in stages through inspections of systems and technical components, as well as rolling stock testing, before each trainset is declared ready to return to service.
Previously, the maintenance of the 7 trainsets was planned to be completed in stages. As the work progressed, six trainsets completed all inspection processes and returned to service, while maintenance of the final trainset continues to be completed in collaboration with INKA.
Anne explained that coordination among KAI, INKA, and relevant parties continues to be carried out to maintain the quality of the work while ensuring that rolling stock readiness meets operational needs.
“The acceleration of the maintenance process continues within the framework of safety. Each trainset can only return to service after all inspection and testing stages have been confirmed to meet the required standards,” said Anne.
Rolling stock readiness remains a key consideration amid the high demand for Commuter Line Jabodetabek services. From January to August 2026, KRL Jabodetabek services served 277,272,682 customers.
“KAI, together with KAI Commuter and INKA, continues to maintain rolling stock readiness so that service capacity can keep pace with the community’s travel needs. Our current focus is on completing maintenance of the final trainset while maintaining safety and reliability standards,” Anne concluded.
